Rep Power: 0 Cruise Control for 2005 Civic VP
First off, let me start by saying that I'm a first time poster, long time reader. This forum has helped me out so much with my Civic! Thanks!
Now, onto my question. I'm looking to add cruise control to my 2005 Civic VP, and was wondering about the best way to go about it. The VP is essentially a DX with auto transmission, A/C and a CD player.
I've been looking at kits from Rostra and Audiovox, but wanted to get the opinion of other users that have done this mod. My ultimate goal is to tap into the switches, tie them into an Arduino board, and be able to activate cruise from both the switches or my "car-puter" (see below.)
Hope to hear back from someone soon! Also, I'm planning on posting a lot of my mods to the forum as how-to's...like tying in an Arduino w/ aftermarket door lock actuators...i.e...adding power door locks to a Civic DX/VP! :-D

does your 05 have the actuators already installed on the door locks? I just leased a 2011 VP and am wondering if I just need to connect or if the actual door lock motors are deleted?

I'm not sure it would be possible to add cruise control, if you wanted to it would extremely difficult.
You might need to change the ECU and you would definitely need to add the cruise control unit, which is tied into many components.

Sorry for the delay...work has taken up most of my time lately...ugh...lol.
@jearl - Nope...my Honda didn't have the actuators. I got two with my Avital alarm system, and picked up another two for the rear doors. Also found a Civic EX door handle on eBay with the locking switch. Plan is to do a 5-wire relay system that both the lock switch and the alarm will use.
@MindBomber - I know there's aftermarket kits for it...and I've seen some people do it with success...but I was just wondering if anyone had a preferred unit they use.
