the k24 is much more torque-y than the k20 due to the .1L more stroke per cylinder but don't plan on putting the k20a2 head on it and expect a 9k rpm revving torque monster. the rods simply won't hold up at those speeds.

The k24 cause the torque is ridiculous in that thing lol. But ya totally a good swap and its probably same price as the k20a2 or maybe cheaper. But ya the k24a2 has 200 hp and 166 trq. With simple bolt ons and a good little tune you can be sitting round 220 whp and 180 trq. Bolt ons that are good with this setup is injen cai or aem v2 sri, kiddracing race header, and the apexi ws2 or the obx twin loop.
Another choice could be the k24a1 and put the a2 head on it. You can do this cause the k24a1 block is already built quite enough to handle the a2 head.
But either the k20a2 or the k24a2 will both great choices.

Yes the k24a2 is good for boost. It would be easy and simple in it. I know some guys that have k20a3's and are boosting them up to 10 psi stock internals and have been like that for bout a year now no lie. So the k24a2 should be ready for it with stock internals especially since the k24a2 is built a hole lot better than the k20a3. Just make sure you get a good tune with it.

For real I wouldnt go up above 10 psi on the k24 with stock internals just to be safe. But if you want to go higher then to 15 psi just upgrade the valvetrain ( valves, cams, blah blah) The block should be good for a while but if you want to upgrade it to then just get new rods and pistions.
I know someone with a k24 frank boosted and running in the 600's.

You can find a k24a2 in a salvage yard as well. The k24a2 comes in the Acura tsx. So if you find one of them you will find a k24 unless someone else has already took it lol.
I am actually going to do the k24a2 swap in my ep3. Its been my plan for a while now been saving up for some time. I am going to start out with k24a2 Frankenstein and hopefully put down 275 whp and 240 trq.

Its the wiser to leave the civic factory stock, otherwise you will just end up spending lots of money and gaining no actual excitement from the car. You see, the civic is a great car for getting groceries, and getting me to my bingo gatherings. Its wonderful on gas and when I floor it, the car is so gentle that it doesn't give me a queasy feeling at all like my Geo Metro used to do. The rate of acceleration of my civic is about the same as my grandsons moped, so the car is plenty fast enough. But if you are suggesting to have a fast car for the street other than for getting groceries, or bingo, just about any other car on the road is better suited. Plus you will lose your great gas mileage. Good luck sonny.

let the kid do what he wants. the civic is good for more than groceries and bingo if you try. while swaps have a much higher potential, just going turbo can be considerably cheaper if you take the time to plan your build and buy parts at the lowest cost. modifying your car and making it do different, exciting and unique things is part of being young. you get an incredible sense of accomplisment when you complete a goal you've set for yourself. it's totally worth it.
