2008 Civic EX with mud guards = $20K out the door with Tax and title (7% tax for Ohio)
I am thinking about adding XM for $649 plus Tax

Do not "add" XM.
Purchase an after market radio that has it built right in.
Example would be an Eclipse 7100. That way you get the navi and sat radio and a good head unit. all for around the same price.
I also agree with the person above. Why not just opt for the SI?

I thought about the SI but I really don't need the extra horse power and it cuts down on the gas mileage unless there are other reasons to go with an SI.

Dont spend 650 bucks on a factory installed stereo. Buy an after market stereo. You will be much happier that way.

Agreed on the advice to get an aftermarket satellite unit.
As for the Si, you're right, the extra horsepower isn't needed, but it sure makes these cars a whole lot more fun to drive. Test drive them both and check the difference.
As for the difference in gas mileage, it only comes out to about 2-4 MPG difference according to people that have traded up from EX to SI.
Both great cars so you can't go wrong. good luck!

i have an 07 si 4 dr. love it. however, mileage is a concern. yes, only a few mpg's less than ex, but its using the 93 octane that's killing me. my neck of the woods (PA), its around $3.40 gal and rising.
I know I can use 91 octane, but hard to find, its usually either a choice of 87, 89, or 93 around here. Do you all find similar problems?

21,300 for an '08 Si Coupe. No upgrades, but all that is offered is dvd navi and wheels, right? I bought 94 Accord for 14,500 new. Paid a little under 9k for a 2001 lx with 35k on it. Prices suck.

I just bought an 2008 4 door black Civic EXL with navi and I am very happy...I looked at the SI and didn't like the seats or the fact that you had to use premium gas. This is my 5th Civic.
I liked the SI wing and bought one online found out that it was cheaper than the regular one. Looks nice low and sexy.
