EX header on DX (again....)

EX header on DX (again....)

Ok,

I spent some time looking for info about header options for a DX... I am a bit sceptical about 2 statements that I read:

Is it true that you can have noticeable gain simply by swaping the complete EX exhaust set-up on a DX?

I also read somewhere that most of the power difference (117hp versus 127hp) between d17a1 and d17a2 is the exhaust... the rest is from the vtec. True?

If one or both of these statement are true, I will definitively swap to an EX exhaust first (low cost) and then upgrade it with aftermarket part when I'll have more $$$!!!

Ive heard the same thing the most improvement from a ex to lx is the ex has slighy higher compression, better exaust system and sohc vtec. Then again i raced a ex with i/h/e and i have a lx with i/e and he won once and i won once so i dont think its that big of a difference. I say just get a aftermarket race header like the h26 header from hp racing and get aftermarket ex cat back or a stock one if you want it to be quiet.

i have EX headers for sale if interested. Theyre HP racing. I was gonna do the EX conversion too, but changed my mind. I just did an HKS axleback.

Yeah but where I live, if you get caught with no cat you are in deep sh.t!

So when you swaped the EX system you did not notice any improvment? What about the sound?

differences bewtween the 2..

EX over the LX/DX
better flowing exhaust
vtec
better cam profiles.. obviously vecause of the vtec
higher compression
shorter tranny
