DIY Fuel Kill Switch
Alrighty guys.. Here is a brief step by step of wiring up you very own Fuel Kill Switch.
Materials Needed:
Soldering Iron
SPST (Single Pole, Single Throw) switch. a decent one, not to big, but not to small.
Wire (I used 18 Guage)
Wire cutters, stripping & Crimping tool
Butt Connectors (I believe this is what they are called)
Imagination
Ok, this is how I did it. First I set up my switch. Soldered the wires to the switch & then mounted it. Basically I thought of a pretty out of the way place for it. Not obvious, but not to where I need a map to find it.
2nd I ran the wiring under the carpet. Depending on where you mount it, you may need to run it under some moulding or even the carpet.
Next, you need to remove the lower portion of your back seat. The Fuel Pump wiring is located under the seat. Once that has been removed, remove the plate that covers the fuel pump wiring. 4 phillips screws & that is off.
Now the wire you are wanting to pay attention to is the yellow one with the green stripe on it. This is one of the wires for the fuel pump.
Anyway, cut this wire, strip both ends about 1/4".
Strip both ends of the wire you ran from the switch (obviously there should be 2) the same you did the yellow wire.
It doesnt matter what wire you connect to what. The circuit will be interupted either way when the switch is flipped.
Use 2 butt connectors to connect one side of the yellow w/ green stripe to one side of the switch wire & repeat with the other.
Make sure they are good & connected, you dont what to have your car die on the freeway or anything like that.
Test. Start your car, if it starts, flip the switch & it should die. If it does not start, flip the switch & it should start. either way, get to know what does what so you know that when you flip it, its is killed.
Put everything back together & you should be good to go. I just finished mine & it wirks like a charm. Not only that, but the switch is out of the way and not obvious at all.
One thing I would recommend is to do a little solder around if not in the openings of the butt connectors just to make sure they are good and secure.
In anyone has any questions, PM me.
BTW: all this stuff can be bought @ Radio Shack or whatever for about $20. at the most. If you have a soldering iron already, it will be even cheaper.
Lets see someone drive off with my ride now.
Also, this works with the 6th gens as well. I got this off of ClubSi, so it definitely works with those cars as well. I would have done pics, but my PC is having USB issues so I cant download them to my PC to put them up. Once I get that fixed, I will post pics of the final product.

Very nice DIY man. Good Job!!
I'm definitely gonna do this tomorrow on my day off.

On a side note...
My friend works at this mechanic shop, and this guy brought in his suburban to be worked on. So, the next day, they go to move the burban into the shop so it can be worked on. For some odd reason (and I do mean ODD), it just wouldn't turn over. Finally, after 4 hours of checking every possible thing they could think of and seeing that everything looked fine, they called the owner. Come to find out, he had his truck wired to where you had to turn the parking lights on before it would start!! LOL When I heard that, I like ta lost my mind!! Very creative though....

Not at all. 1 bolt, and then it pops out. The bolt is located pretty much dead center between the upper & lower parts of the seat. Mine was left out by the car stereo guys so I didnt have to worry about that. it just popped out for me.
I figured that when the fuel line was killed there would be enugh fuel to at least pull out of my parking spot, but it doesnt even run that long. I am happy with it.
, Just make sure you follow the directions because there are 2 yellow wires. Make sure you splice into the right one. Its super easy.. And it gives you that much more security that your car isnt gonna drive away on you. AND another benifit is if you get carjacked, flip it on the down low & they wont get far.

very nice job man, i wanted to do something like this and now i will. I think i'll put the switch in that little cut out above the cup holders by the dash. I put my switch for my rear license plate lights in there all the way in the back and you would never know its there.
One question, where exactly is the pump located under the seat? or is it obvious once i take the seat off?

One question, when your car dies due to the switch being off, is that gonna be bad for the car at all? I mean is it like when your tank runs out of gas, cause if that happens that generally isn't very good. I mean of course its better for this to happen than your car to be stolen, but to just test it out and stuff, i don't know if i would want to.

Once you take the seat out, you obviously will see a cover. Remove that cover & you will see wires going into your gas tank. That is about it. I will snap some pics tomorrow, I have to weather proof it all.
As far as the car dieing when you forget to flip it on, its not the greatest thing for the car, but not as bad as running out of gas. You got to remember when you run out of gas that all the deposits from your gas get sucked into the fuel system. With this, it does not. The engine just uses up what is in the fuel line.
I have had my car die on me a few times. I forgot to flip the switch. But it helps in knowing that it will be alot safer when its parked out in the mall or in the hood. The car will make it about 2 feet before it dies. So if someone is stealing it, they are either going to bail, try & figure it out, or whatever. Depending on how hard the switch is to find, they will just leave it. If its easy to find, you have completely did this for nothing. You want it hard to find, out of sight, but easy to get to. Like I said, I will throw up pics tomorrow.

Okay, so it turned out to be around $19 (forgot the solder wire) something, but it was a clean install and a success. The hardest part of the project was getting the materials. Well, it wasn't really hard, just had to make a couple runs because I forgot a little here and there. Have pictures but I forgot my USB cable at my apartment in Ohio last when I drove home to Kentucky, oh well. Did the install at 4:30 in the morning so I don't know how good the picture will look on the screen instead of the little LCD. Thanks for the DIY, I feel much more secure now.
I've notice that my car has been idling lower and feels like it almost wants to die at times (but never does). Am I using the wrong switch or something? everything is wired correctly.

as far as the idiling, i have no idea. Mine idles fine until the switch is thrown to off. Then it weill die. I would recheck your connections & make sure all of them are good, clean connections. That would be the only thing I could think of. What guage is the wire did you get?
VellVic: Better safe than sorry. The Immobilizer aint that great. You can always get around that. You can get around the kill switch too, but I doubt a thief is going to rip out everything inmy car till he finds it. Especially when it is parked out in the mall or on the street where he can be seen. And if they are that determined, they will get it one way or another.

I did this DIY today and I must say it works like a charm. I put my wires under the carpet as well but I lined mine up with the cable trunk that runs under the cup holder console .... I zip tied it all the way down and straight into the fule pump wires. Thanks for the tip.

can't we just put a switch for the ignition wire? no power, no go? and it won't hurt your engine since the car just won't start if the switch is off
