AC Compressor Replacement

The only thing I would like to know from this thread is have you replaced your stock compressor, what replacement part did you use, and is it working(and for how long)?

My AC Compressor pulley...

Re: oil suggestions 2003

That is crazy. Every 2 weeks? I have 271000 miles, I change the oil every 10K miles and I only use Amsoil 5w-30. Engine wear? My car idles like new, heads to 6,500 rpm with aplomb and gets 35-40...

Re: Clicking sound coming from '04 Civic LX AT

Does it get more pronounced if you turn circles in a parking lot? Try turning circles while going in reverse? CV joints click when they go bad.

Re: 04 civic wheel bearing repair issue

I took mine to Pep Boys. They pressed out the old and pressed in the new for $40 for both fronts.

Re: Window troubleshooting

Honda calls it the window regulator. They are pretty cheap and easy to replace. They sell them at the local auto parts store but I regret using non Honda parts. The actual Honda part is not too...

Re: Trip ODO reset button fixed

I hope this helps. I looked everywhere for help and couldn't find it. I got so upset that I was ready to just pay to have it fixed. However, the dealer said they need to keep the car while the...

Re: Who's had a bad transmission? *UPDATED*

Yes, and the clutch looked very good. If I hadn't already bought the new piece, I would have re-installed it. I bought a new flywheel.

Re: Is your Check Engine Light, SRS Light, Or ABS Light On? If so, Please Read

My SRS light came on when the alternator was producing too much current. New alternator = no light.

PS, the dealership couldn't get any codes at all for any system.

Re: Who's had a bad transmission? *UPDATED*

My input shaft bearing started making a lot of noise at 250,000 miles. I replaced the entire manual transmission and clutch. The old clutch looked like it didn't need replacing but I had already...

Re: Engine replacement

I changed my transmission last year. I pulled the whole engine to do it. It came out the top without having to pull anything but the accessories and the air box.

Trip ODO reset button fixed

On my 2002 Civic LX, my reset button has been having problems for a long time. If I push it really hard, I might get lucky and get it to change screens or reset. However, for resetting the maint...

Re: 2002 Civic Ball Joints again

My worry is the OEM civic ball joint was pressed in without any C clip. The aftermarket ones come with a C clip. I don't know if the press in/press out process is causing any looseness that will...

Re: 2002 Civic Ball Joints again

Okay, so I got burned by Advance and most have correctly pointed out that it'll only cost me my time.

So here's my question:

Moog -- I've been told they have a thick boot and will last
TRW --...

Re: 2002 Civic Ball Joints again

I think more than likely, it was just the cheepo ball joints I bought from Advance. I was fooled by their "lifetime warranty." I'll get the Moogs soon and lick my wounds.

Re: 2002 Civic Ball Joints again

What point are you trying to make? I get it from about the second reply. I walked into Advance and asked for ball joints. I got screwed on the deal and there is no need to rub it in.

Re: 2002 Civic Ball Joints again

On the Advance website the Moog ball joint is available for 2x the cost but it had a bunch of 1 star reviews. I see now that it was because of zerk fitting on ABS applications.

Re: 2002 Civic Ball Joints again

No because it said lifetime warranty right on the receipt. They are Driveworks.

Re: 2002 Civic Ball Joints again

Wow. All this work because of cheepo balljoints? The thing is they are supposedly lifetime warranty.

Re: 2002 Civic Ball Joints again

Whatever brand they sell at Advance Auto Parts. I'm not sure I saw a specific brand name on the box.

The Advance website says they are "Driveworks."

2002 Civic Ball Joints again

I just replaced both front ball joints about 6 months ago. I noticed over the weekend that the driver's side rubber is completely destroyed. What could have caused this to happen?

Re: SRS Light and Radio Cutting On and Off

Thanks so much, Ezone. The alternator was popping volts in the high 16 and 17v range. A new alternator fixed my problem. I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction.

Re: SRS Light and Radio Cutting On and Off

I couldn't disagree with you more. The engine compartment can be cleaned and modern cars are absolutely designed for water intrusion.
