31mph over ticket?

back about a month and a half ago i got a 61 in a 30 ticket. anything over 30 is a felony but the cop was "nice" and gave me a civil violation. i got my lawyer on it but i'm wonder if there is any chance i could get the 8 points removed...in addition to my 26 over ticket which gave me 4 points. if i cant get the points reduced or removed i wont be able to afford my insurance

usually states offer defensive driving classes, these are used to help in the removal of points from your drivers license and occasionally insurance companies will ive you a discount upon successful completion of the class.

but those classes dont remove all of the points...like 3 which is kinda dumb...but if they do offer it i probably will take it

don't you have a place where your from that'll take care of the tickets. Here in st.louis we have the traffic law center. $75 plus fine and court cost and no points or anything.

i8dabomb 01-10-2005 08:12 PM

damn i'd gladly pay 75 bucks (twice) in addition to 422.20 in fines for no points...

ajhdragon 01-10-2005 08:18 PM

yeah each one of my tickets ended up costing like $240 a piece after everything, cause the lawyer just gets it changes to a parking ticket or something. and even better you don't need to show up in court the lawyer goes for you.

i8dabomb 01-10-2005 08:45 PM

yea i've got my lawyer on it... hopefully something good will come of this

and 15 years down the line your record is searched and they see a 240 buck fine for parking...haha

You could've gone to jail but the officer was cool and made it a civil ticket...and you still got your lawyer on it?? how much are you paying him an hour to research a civil ticket...I think you already spent too much money...

i8dabomb 01-11-2005 05:30 PM

i'd rather spend more money getting rid of the ticket than having that on my record...

im in the same situation. except mine was for going 75 in a 45. im in MD. i think the ticket was $260 or something and 4 points. i def dont need that right now. or else ill sell the civic. i am looking into gettin a lawyer on that one, cuz i too, am willing to pay a larger sum of money and in return, not get the points. its the points that kill you. ****ing insurance companies love raping sexy young attractive guys like me. ;)

Hi sexy young attractive guy, glade your not in NY! 30 over can mean loss of license! Insurance co's don't like that! I Know.

i8dabomb 01-12-2005 09:40 AM

shh anything over 30 is a felony and for me it means i'll probably lose my license or get it suspended... good thing cops are wicked fast with these things and they havent sent me a letter :)

AZ2K1Civic 01-12-2005 12:16 PM

How does your lawyer plan on trying to get the ticket dropped? how did they measure your speed? radar, pace, visual, etc...

rijowysock 01-12-2005 01:24 PM

get a GOOD lawyer.. dont get a young guy find a traffic lawyer in ur town thats been working since city hall was built.. he'll more than likely know the DA's and then you get a discounted fine and no points..

1 month after getting my liscense i got a 57 over in a 55 (112 in 55) and it was a work zone, workers present, and driving w/o a liscense(first 6 months of liscense in NC is limited to 5am--9pm kinda like a curfew thing) anywho they didnt even gimme a fine just said this is your day to appear in court i got our fam lawyer ad got off for 410$ no points on liscense not even any sign that anything ever happened. so.. like i said find an old lawyer.. they know important people...

riley

deferred judification... I think that is spelled right, that is like a probation period and it won't go against you unless you get another ticket withing 90 days. That might be different where you are though. Go to the courthouse and ask questions. they will be glad to answer...
