Suspension Is In

Well, got my car back at 5:30 tuesday night and man was it ever looooooow... But soooooooo sexxxy... :p... I drove it home and it was raining so damn hard... I'd hit some medium bumps in the road and it sounded like rain was going in my fender kinda thing... But it was happening to often so I thought that the tires were rubbing... From the sounds of it, only the back left tire was rubbing... (Found out when I got home to that my stock springs/shocks/struts were in the trunk as well, so it made a difference taking them out)... So I got home and took out my flashlight and couldn't see anything that looked like the car would rub... So I talked to the guy I went to about it, and he said to bring it in on wednesday morn and we'd look at it... So i brought it in Wed at around noonish and we looked at the car again, and couldn't find anything... Then the guy noticed that the back tires had some scuff marks on it and he said that it was hitting the lip of the fender on bumps and he'd adjust the camber some more so that the tires won't rub... We adjusted that and the feeling went away... At 5:00 I got an alignment done... That took around a hour... We had to leave the back tires on a touch of a camber because of how low it is... But everything is nicely aligned and my steering wheel is finally back straight, haha... When everything was put on, my steering wheel would have to be like turned a little to the left to have the wheels straight... Haha... So i'm just letting the car sit a bit even though the car is probably settled already and i'll take some pics in the morning and show before and after shots... Car handles nicely as well, i love it... Hopefully I can wash it and wax it Sunday before the cruize... Anyways, gotta go finish reading a book called Homelessness and write a 5ish page essay on it due for 11:35 in the morning... Damn mid-terms... Haha

Pics??

How could you be rubbing in the back? I don't.

Big Baller L 10-22-2006 07:34 PM

nice man glad to hear you got it fixed up. Erik depending on your camber you can easily hit the fender lip (Mine are rolled because of it)

Yah i want to see pics also!!

burnhard88 10-22-2006 10:40 PM

aight here are the pics... :p... here is my car with 18's, then the drop with the 18's... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ionPics004.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ionPics008.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ionPics007.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ionPics006.jpg

JDMspark009 10-23-2006 08:20 PM

DDragon7 10-23-2006 09:23 PM

Is it me or is the right rear lower than the left side?

BTW you missed the cruise.

burnhard88 10-24-2006 12:30 AM

landin: thanks for the props on the car man... yeah, i'm gonna store it this winter...

pierre: i'm plannin on takin those off... looks so out of place, haha...

ddragon: it's weird, the camera makes it look off... i also took the pics on a slope, so maybe that's what is making it look wonky as well... not sure... but it definatly looks normal, haha

EŽik 10-24-2006 04:49 PM

Looks good Charles! Can't wait to see it in person AFTER it's been cleaned :)

fluk3d 10-24-2006 08:16 PM

DDragon7 10-24-2006 10:51 PM

What you gonna do with the mudflaps when you take them off?

burnhard88 10-25-2006 11:48 PM

i appreciate the props guys!!! ddragon, i'm not sure what i'm gonna do with the mud flaps... they'd just sit in my garage i guess... :p

DDragon7 10-26-2006 10:26 PM

I'll take them off your hands if you dont mind. That is if they are OEM.

burnhard88 10-26-2006 11:31 PM

yea the mud flaps i assume are oem... haha... if u want them they're urs... :p

player 10-27-2006 11:00 AM

DO NOT REMOVE THE MUDFLAPS

i repeat

DO NOT REMOCE THE MUDFLAP

doing so will void your insurance, look it up in the ontation insurance act, all vehicle must be equiped with at least 1 pair of mudflap, or else they are uninsurable

DDragon7 10-27-2006 06:04 PM

Nice, where/when can I pick them up?

burnhard88 10-27-2006 06:50 PM

ummm... when/where you want... haha, i'm easy... i just gotta get em off my car... :p... unless we can take em off if you want... haha

EDIT: whoa, it voids my insurance if i take them off??? :S:S:S

DDragon7 10-28-2006 09:50 PM

Im not in a hurry to get them, you could let me know when you have them off. Do you goto Carleton University? My bro said he seen your car there once.

burnhard88 10-28-2006 11:42 PM

yes, i definatly do go to carleton... haha, as if he's seen my car... :p... i've seen you once driving as well near the future shop/best buy on merivale... haha

djdust12 11-28-2006 03:31 PM

Hey can you guys give me any help/advice - I want to get some nice new wheels and tires for my '03 coupe but I really don't know much about wheels or tires. What is the max. wheel size and tire size I can get without lowering the car? Also, will it look stupid with big wheels and not being lowered? Thanks for any input!

Si2NV 11-28-2006 08:15 PM

Hey Djdust, welcome to the site. Reffering to your question about wheels and suspension, I'd say it depends on what kinda look you're going for. If you are all about show get some nice 18's or 19's with a nice low pro tire. If you are more into performance (not that it'll give you much) the get some nice light weight 15's or 16's. As for lowering your car, I wouldnt go anything over a 2inch drop...my suggestion is to get a nice set of coilovers because the turning and ride is a better then aftermarket springs. Definetly get your car lowered if you decide to get big rims. Big rims + no drop =

here are some nice rims:

on a budget

djdust12 11-28-2006 08:54 PM

Thanks a lot! Ok, say I buy some 18's and the tires - now I'm gonna need some coilovers. How much will it cost for an average set of coilovers - and more importantly, how much will it cost to get all this on my car? Is that all I need: wheels, tires, coilovers?
Thanks for any help, I'm new in this stuff but VERY interested and I just want a sharp lookin' ride done right.

-Dustin

burnhard88 11-28-2006 10:00 PM

coilovers can run you anywhere from probably 7-1700 dollars... depending on how much ur willing to spend... if u want a decent set, ground control coilovers by eibach are good.. if u wanna go balls to the wall, then kw coils... haha... it'll prob take a few hours the install... that's how long it took when i got my shocks/struts, springs put on
