Tunned 2000 Civic b18 Turbo
 

Hey just got back from kvr spent a whole day tunning the civic. Just wanted to thank Edwin & Dan & Pierre offcourse for helping out...

I ended up making 182.7 whp @ 9psi 159 ft-lb torque @ 7500 rpm . Video is below sorry for the crappy quality.

woah.. wait a second, that's your car now? Did you end up selling the 7th gen after all?

He still has the 7thgen. It's just parked now. He's currently driving that hatchback. I actually took it for a spin last week BEFORE it got tuned. WOW. I actually saw Eli today at the coin wash :)

ohh nice thats sick. Good numbers. One question tho. What was the guy spraying on the intercooler? I hope is wasnt anything that would skew the numbers to look higher than they are. I know they usually put a huge fan to simulate wind resistance, but ive never seen people spray stuff. Do you know what it was?

Either way the car is fast...i got a ride at 1psi and its fast...haha

nice did you still need to fix that boost leak ? Or was that fixed before the dyno ? Congrats on the numbers, already got a ride and it is definitely fast.

hey guys thanks for the comments it did 180whp without intercooler spraying. Dan(the guy spraying the intercooer) was hitting it up with windex it made an extra 2.1whp with that. Boost leak was fixed during the whole tunning process.

yeah its good for this year, next year ill be putting the gt25 and redoing the intercooler pipping

Why does windex increase power?

Well your driving down the road and you pin it, the intercooler heats up and does it's job of cooling the turbo down by using the air. You stop pinning it for a couple of min's and then you decide hey let's give er some more. The intercooler is acting like a heat sink, and it's probably still hot as f***. When you spray a mist of water/windex or whatever it's cooling it down faster then the air coming in to it. Just imagine when you walk out of the shower all wet and run outside you get super cold, it's pretty much the same thing, cooling it down faster, providing better air flow. hope that makes sense

it doesn't affect the engine, the intercooler is hot so the liquid evaportates.

well yeah ... totally guessing but they probably use windex because it is probably alcohol based. Just like spilling rubbing alcohol on the table, it evaporates much faster than water.

When you spray something on the intercooler, the faster it evaporates off the fins, the faster the transfer of heat energy. This absence of heat energy on the fins of the intercooler naturally cool it down.

Come on simple thermodynamics, right

i wanna do the same thing (spray) for mine intercooler. i have the holes in my air splitter (hood scoop) for the spray nozzles...but i think i have to cut them out to fit the newer, massive intercooler :(

nitrous/water/windex...whichever...it's all rockin. especially if you autocross.
