Install Done and Over With (HID, TYC's, Fogs and Grill)

Sooo ... everyone huge round of applause for Freddy - and don't forget Emma (she helped out too). Well it was a nice day, and the install day finally got underway.

HID's look awesome, and the TYC projector look is pretty sick. Beam pattern, yeah there are some glare - but wow what a huge difference in amount of light, that definately makes up for any downfall.

Of course, a nice install wouldn't be quite complete without at least one scary moment. Situation was like this...

So we're all done and happy, and then we turn on the car - HID work perfectly. So then we decide to try the turn signals and hazards ... Oh no ... the right side turn signal is blinking both the "turn light" and the little driving light above it.

We look at ourselves and are like "WTF ... we never even touched the stock turn signal wires".

I also have to mention that every time the turn signal would come on the smooth idle of the engine would drop, and then return back to normal for that split second and then drop again. I ****ing started shittin' my pants - and maybe even let a few dribbles out cantonese snake.

FACK, so now were all pissed, tired and have no real clue what the problem is. The left side signal is fine (only the one light flashing), but the right side is acting all weird.

We try a bunch of shit, looking at all the wiring for the Fogs, and HID's .. and we can't find shit.

Literally last thing we try is checking to see where we mounted the igniter. We mounted the igniter to a screw that was a ground for some black wires. So we said, lets just try and remove it to see if it works. Holy shit, it actually worked (just before that we were already talking about having to bring it to a shop to get it checked out - somebody was looking down on us today).

So what ended up happening I guess is that we mounted the plastic igniter (which had a nice hole, perfect for that screw) to the ground for the stock turn signal and small driving light. Weird as it was, simply adding this plastic peice, between the screw and the wires (which were then touching the body of the car) cause that whacky turn signal problem.

I'm just so happy we figured it out ... Anyways long story but definately worth it. Hopefully next friday will be the first Wind Tunnel outing. See you all there.

Mike

NoiSe 04-22-2006 10:30 AM

yeah man they're really bright.. I had to flip my rearview mirror when you were behind me. See if you can aim them a bit lower. They look sweet though

SuperFishy 04-22-2006 11:17 AM

sooo bright. lol. You could probably use them to land air craft.

WhiteHalf 04-22-2006 02:29 PM

"Alpha Bravo Tango 9371 your cleared for landing"

damn ... well maybe when its a nice hot day, I can try to re-aim them ... there is no way I can get a phillips head back there to turn the screw - so it looks like I'll have to take em out.

Does anyone have a tool that could reach there you think ?
