Install Party-!

Looks like it's gonna be sunny this weekend.
so whos up for painting caliper and drums this weekend?

who
what
where
when
how

:hgrin:

we should plan to throw a install meet soon too

E展k 04-06-2005 06:21 PM

ME ME ME ME ME ME!!!!!!!

I work until 2 pm on Saturday, so I can meet up afterwards.

we all going to chip in for paint/primer, and sand paper?

Karumba 04-06-2005 06:31 PM

I think I should get this done too .. seeing how I want rims (+etc etc) but well have plans Saturday evening so cannot exactly take that trip then, though I truly wonder how hard it is to do to paint caliper & drums by oneself - I mean others do it right? Someone wanna fill this noob in on how? And/or perhaps shove in the direction of a DIY guide :)

As for an install meet .. nothing to install here really (unless I actually purchase the stuff .. but then really a shop should take care of me - as I'd hope they do), but I'd come to watch if available ;)

E展k 04-06-2005 07:17 PM

Calipers and drums = easy as all hell, but alot of work, especially if they've never been done before. It involves ALOT of sanding, and cleaning, than priming, and finally painting. It's alot of work, but well worth it in the long run.

Shaneer 04-06-2005 07:18 PM

i can hook up the sand paper and tape, save some $$$,i have lots of paper

SuperFishy 04-06-2005 10:49 PM

I have this giagantic sander made for sanding huge things, I put a steel brush wheel in it (it spins around and around) and it eats up anything near it, used it to redo my rims. It had 4 rims stripped down in about 30 minutes, I bet it could do brakes too if your kinda careful.

liljoe 04-07-2005 02:20 AM

cool, i'm in !

skiboard 04-07-2005 06:32 AM

how much would be break pads. front and back. anybody knows?

liljoe 04-07-2005 08:18 AM

KVR Carbon pads are $60
You need shoes/drums for the rear, not sure what that would cost.
Gary's Automotive is probably the best/cheapest in town for brakes

tekgnosis 04-07-2005 10:15 AM

sweet...sat @ 2:30..i'm down.

I gotta do a DIY on my bike to NOT have any parking lights on my bike. Stupid thing drained my battery.

E展k 04-08-2005 05:10 PM

Ok Well Shaneer said he would hook us up with paper and tape, so I'll pick up a can of silver caliper paint and silver primer from crappy tire.

Won Young, the only tools you will need is your car jack.

Oh I'll bring some plastic as well, this way we won't end up painting our cars.

um.. Can anyone bring a jack (like the one Freddy has) this way it will be faster to do more cars at once, as you can lift the whole front or rear of the car with one jack

NoiSe 04-09-2005 09:51 AM

dammit, I need to study for exams too.. can't make it

my car needs a solid engine wash though

Norek, last time I cleaned my engine I used that orange degreaser from Crappy Tire, let it sit for 10 min. and then scrubbed the hell out of the engine.. After that sprayed down with water, and put tire foam on as the final step :giggle: Not the greatest idea, cuz it got sticky, put it looked good :hgrin: I gotta find an engine detailer to use instead of tire foam this time lol

Si2NV 04-09-2005 10:49 AM
