Need Help With Boosting.

I have a 2003 Honda Civic Si (Ep3) Motor is a K20A3. I'm looking into boosting it. As of now, It has K&N Short Ram Intake, DC Headers 4-1, and Greddy Spectrum Elite Exhaust. I've looked into the Rev-Hard Bolt on Kits, and the Greddy Bolt on kits, but they are way way expensive. I usually say If you're gunna do it, then do it right, but that kinda goes out the window with 3,700$. So I turned to another idea, I know they are notorious for failing but I'm thinking about buying an Ebay kit to use as a base to build off of, (upgrade the turbo, intercooler, ect.) So I was also wondering what internals would NEED to be upgraded by boosting my Ep3 (I plan on running 6-7 boost, Then 9 when I'm getting on it.:)) Also, If anyone knows anything about installing a turbo on a 2003 Honda Civic Si, if you could share some information with me about that. If anyone has anything to say about any of this it would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

The ebay turbos are crap and I do not recommend them at all. They are very notorious of failing and messing up your motor especially i you do not tune them perfect. The best thing to do is get the good ones off greddy and such. They are expensive but you will not have to replace it over time like you would with a ebay.

The k20a3 is very good for boost. I know tons of people running 10-12 psi stock internals for over a yr. The k20a3's are pretty well built even if people say no. They have potential. If you get a good tune you will be able to run 10 psi easy. You should go check out ephatch.com for info on the ep3. That site is all bout the ep3 so you will fit in fine.

Lol no not yet, I am going to start my build in bout a week in a half. I get my swap then which is the k24a1 and I am going to rebuild it and do the vtec killer setup in it. Then eventually boost maybe in a yr after the swap.

Ahhh gotcha, So I saw this kit. Can I get your opinion on it. (from my understanding, RSX usually fits Ep3) It's on Ebay, but is Turbonetics.

Re: Need Help With Boosting.

It looks alright but you never know. And it will probably fit but you will have to get a rsx midpipe to make it fit. The rsx header or turbo down pipe is longer than the ep3's so you will need a rsx midpipe to make it work. You can use a ep3 muffler though.

You're saying I CAN use my Spectrum Elite exhaust ?

Re: Need Help With Boosting.

You can use the muffler but not the midpipe if you get the rsx type turbo.

Re: Need Help With Boosting.

oh gotcha, that kinda sucks. would I lose power from not having the midpipe that goes witht he exhaust to the rsx mid pipe.

Not sure what you mean. If you get the rsx turbo kit the down pipe goes further than the ep3 down pipe. Which when you try and hook up the midpipe the will be back further than its suppose to be and miss the hangers and if you bolt up the ep3 axleback to it then the muffler will be extending way out past the bumper and you will not be able to hang the muffler up so you need the rsx midpipe cause it is shorter than the ep3 one.

Re: Need Help With Boosting.

No thats a down pipe/test pipe for the 4-1 header. Its hard to find a midpipe alone by itself.

#11 in the link is what you need but you need the one from the rsx. This one is from the ep3.

Well that' gunna be a pain but i'm sure I can find it somewhere, now how about injectors, does it matter which size of or anything, I'm looking at these right now.

Re: Need Help With Boosting.

You definitely will not need injectors that big. I think the ep3 stock injectors are 270 cc so you will only need to upgrade by alittle bit. 440cc injectors will be good enough.
