^^ on the manifold what would be a good one? or is custom the only way to go?

with a T3, you have the options of SF, OBX or the new Dezod mani. Or you can go the custom route.

and maxrev manifold

well looked into the dezod kit, seems like a very well planned kit, i may keep up with how there doing and get that.

imo the best looking manifold seems to be the max rev. From pics ive seen on peoples cars they seem to carry equal quality in welds and workmanship. I know people have had issues with the kit in the past but times have changed

Please don't use a turbo that big for 5-7psi. Classic Honda turbo mistake... using turbo that makes peak power for only 1000rpms.

I posted my opinion on turbod16.com in another thread recently... probably don't need to post it again here. look at dyno on page 1, go to page 2.

I generally work/play too much with turbo cars and currently just drive wifes stock D17 civic.. it may get a turbo down the road once it's paid off but I'd look much more towards something like a 14B for low boost or maybe a tad bigger for the d17.

^^ so a t28 would be better? what companys should i look into for a turbo? turbonetics, garret?

T28 would be a much better choice. Any turbo supplier should be able to get you a turbo to match, just be sure you can use it with the manifolds that are made. Pricing on the new turbos usually don't vary by much after they reach your door. The cheaper places often leave out taxes or have high shipping costs. Sometimes you can just find a good deal though.

If you can buy your items together from a shop... i.e. turbo and manifold and such... it's generally better to do so. Shops always go out of their way more for customers who they feel are more faithful to the shop.

If you need something custom, my friends shop builds the best hand-made stuff I've seen (more functional design than the ram ones) and you are not limited to buying generic turbo as he has laser cut flanges for just about every turbo out there.

I was planning on getting more into this next summer myself as I'm back in school for another 8 months in a few weeks.

if you want a t28 setup, check out turbokits.com they got a t25 full kit for our cars, and you can upgrade directly to a t28, either on the site, or get it somewhere else. It bolts directly on. But dont plan on much horses, t28 is little. :hgrin:

??? the problem is that one guy builds a 450hp Civic and then sells everyone the same turbo for 2psi-20+psi. Great engineering... how the heck is a T28 too small for a 5-7psi system? Please explain in a more suiting fashion than one that just pads your # of posts. I'm listening.

The T28 can be had in 'Big' T28 form, for 350-375hp on a 2.0L DSM which certainly be enough to wreck a stock motor or two on a D17...

apexi boost controller is great but a little fancy for a 5-7 psi setup. i would just get an internally gated turbo and leave it alone so i wasnt tempted to turn up the boost, much cheaper too.
