Valve Springs
 

Ok boys and girls :_beer: ,

I pressed that little red button up there that said search, and I searched for valves and valve springs, and I got a bunch of threads where I asked if anyone had found out anything about valves or valve springs being made for our cars yet, and noone replied. :_doh: So I'm gonna bring it back to everyone's attention;


Does anyone know if they have made aftermarket valvesprings or valves for our head?

I'm not so worried about the valves, but the valve springs I am hesitant of running more than 8 lbs of boost on for a long period of time. :susp: I talked to a local guy that builds engines and he said our valve springs left something to be desired. :violin:

Well just 8psi of boost won't harm your valvetrain. What harms it is running at high rpms.

Just curious........are u interested in only upgrading your springs? or do you wanna do a complete valvetrain upgrade ?

I don't know if Super Tech makes them for the D17 or not, but i doubt it. Here, e-mail this guy and ask him, he sells Super Tech valvetrain parts and is a Honda builder, his name is Earl.

Well I'm gonna build the entire block, but the guy told me that there is a lack of parts for building the head up.. He said that the only thing he was worried about was just the valve springs not being able to hold the boost.

According to him the valve springs are not as strong in our generation civics or something, and he was hesitant for me to run alot of boost on them. He said that 8 lbs would be okay, but since i'm building the block and i'm gonna have it sleeved, im gonna wanna run alot more boost than that. (Around 10-15 daily).

I would like for my entire valve train to be built before too long, but i'm doing what I can right now.

No, I would never run 25-30 DAILY even on a built motor. I can't afford to have it blow up every couple of weeks.

Now, on a built engine I would race with 20 - 25 lbs. Otherwise I would just run 10 -15 daily to preserve the life of the engine.

I may just not upgrade valvetrain until a valid company comes out with them. If you are running 11psi and not having trouble, then I feel alot better. :-D

try 14+

well, if you take your car to the track and run 20-25 psi.......you won't get traction. You might get traction with a LSD and if you do, u will run the chance of snapping a axle and messing up ur tranny. Stick with 15psi daily and prolly for track use too.
