I had this thought last night. since the problem is where the numbers wind up what if onthe knob or maybe even on the shifter you grind down the thread about a quarter so the starting point is moved wouldnt the ending point be moved also?

True but grind a lil too far and... DOH! :_doh: hafta grind down another full rotation!
Plus you'll get all those little metal bits everwhere and... eventually the bottom of the knob will "bottom out" to a point where there is no more thread and it stops turning for that reason.

Peace

alex, you need my struts still? I was hoping the shop could put my shyt on today, but they said wait til monday so there's more time for me to get an alignment. I think they were going home early today. But let me know, so I dont pick them up for nothin. Just need a yes, and what do you need, 2 front shocks only, or do you want all 4, or all 4 plus springs? Hit me up on PM or respond to this thread

Rufus Nov 5, 2004 01:18 PM

If Alex doesn't take em I will. Shit bring your car over and I'll put the springs on.

I think you got confused. I'm cutting it about an 1" 1/2 and then re welding it, so no tap or die set needed. I don't think it will break off either if I weld it back on, not like I'm trying to break my wrist and slam gears.

I've seen that done on a coupla cars... then the OE stuf stays in place and I like that idea. Plus if you wanted to get really creative you angle the shift knob when you reweld it, if you so desire(so girls like a lil angle to the knob... ;) )

its cool, I thought you were talking about cutting the shifter to make it lower like I was talking about, lol.

I'm trying to make it a little lower into the boot, rather than "up to my shoulders" as Joey put it.

Tommy Tran: I'll give it a lil angle for the ladies!

2K1Civic17"Gabe Nov 5, 2004 08:30 PM

Sorry rufus, he still wanted em, if you want my stock springs you can have em. Im having a shop put them on that owes us money, and their paying for the strut mounts/labor, otherwise, Id buy a bunch of beer and say lets do it, for whoever was down. thanks for the offer, though.

Rufus Nov 5, 2004 10:24 PM

No prob.

shifthis Nov 6, 2004 07:07 PM

I may need help when I get my ground controls, I am thinking of saving the money and doing it myself this time. lots of beer of course.

alex053 Nov 6, 2004 07:55 PM

picked up two sliders, two brackets fora 6th gen, two 4 point sparco torino harnesses, and 4 of the sparco shoulder pads with logo :)

not bad for $20

2K1Civic17"Gabe Nov 6, 2004 08:34 PM

Id help, but never done it and wouldnt want to. I'd throw down on beer, to come and help out, so I can learn. I need to get out of this damned house as much as possible anyways. Keep fighting with my biyatch.

Rufus Nov 7, 2004 03:56 PM

Word. If you all need help just hit me up.

2K1Civic17"Gabe Nov 8, 2004 12:52 PM

My car is in the shop right now. I HOPE they are done today. They said they would try their damndest to get it done today. I dont want to leave my car overnight (especially 15 miles away). How many miles would I be able to drive w/o an alignment. If I get my car back late, and discount tire is closed, would I be able to make it 15 miles, or is that a big hell no? Id rather my car sit, than me mess it up.

shifthis Nov 8, 2004 01:22 PM

discount doesnt do alignments. are youtalking about network, I think they close at 5.

lol, you won't mess your car up if you don't get it aligned RIGHT AWAY. My car has been dropped and switched with different springs and coilovers so many times you wouldn't believe!! I still have yet got my alignment. Now I'm not saying you shouldn't have it done because you should but it's not a big deal to me.
