01 ex vs. 02 rsx (non type s)
 

I have a 2001 ex with exhaust and cold air intake..thats it. This past saturday i was driving down the road late at night and an rsx, not type s, came off a side road onto the road i was on. This road is about a half mile straight away, perfect for racing. I got up beside him and it he looked at me and i asked if he wanted to race, he said ok so i said to slow down to 20 then he counted from three and we went i dropped into first and we were dead even through 3rd and into 4th i pulled ahead at the end of third into fourth and his bumper dropped to my driver side door, and stayed there till we passed 100. He let off first then i did, i'm pretty sure he had a 5 speed because i heard the down shift when we started. It was a completely stock rsx they come with 160 hp. I dont know if he was a good driver or not But it was definitaly a good race. I am about to order a zex wet nitrous system in a couple of days so hopefully next time i have that close of a race i can get that pull away win to let em know whats up.

There should be a lock for the first gear when going over 20 mph. Or atleast mine will not. Nice run. Should be a close race if not the rsx winning. Havent raced one so I wouldnt know.

shit, i have trouble getting into 1st at 5 mph let alone 20...

^ Some times mine does that, but most of the time I can get it in up around 10-15 mph.

maybe it's an auto...i think a base rsx would kill us

you can manually downshift to first in the base RSX auto, it has the same tranmission as in the auto prelude (sportshift, like manual-auto but is still auto) except with 5 forward gears instead of 4

its an auto still, so it saps up a lot of power as it is being transferreed from flywheel to axles.

yo have a manual, so you should beat the rsx IF it was an auto. if not, the 5 speed plus 160HP would waste us.

haha they had a thread on clubrsx saying that a civic ex manual could never beat an auto rsx...

how come you decided to launch from 20mph and not a standstill?
i think if it was from a stop, the rsx would have probably had you beat.

my car would never let me downshift to first goin 20mph/ 35kmh

the base rsx is not that impressive imo, I have raced a few of them and I have kept up with them

how the hell can u guys not downshift to first at 20? Me and my friends always race form a 15-20 mph roll outside of school and I drop it into first. Along with the rest of the 7thgens around my area.....are you guys talking about automatics or something?

There is a lock on first when going too fast, much like when you try to put it in reverse while on the freeway.

I really doubt it was a 5spd. I've heard guys on this site bragging about beating Base RSX's with manual trannies, but if he's a decent driver you're owned, so he probably sucked at driving

just match the rpm with the speed and its easily go back to first

How do you match rpm with speed? Each gear has a different ratio, right? So, 20mph might be at 2k rpm in 2nd, but would be higher in 1st.

I'm telling you, I've never had a lock on my car, shit I'll shot a video tommarow of me dropping it at 20.

I have beaten 2 Base RSXs so far. The mods that I know that they had so far were just Intakes. They weren't easy races, but I still won. They were M/T also.

i can drop from like 20 into 1st in my ex cept its probably not that good for the trans so i dont do it that much

Hahah i cant, see past the 20 mph 1st thing, but on the other hand the base RSX is slow but still faster than our civic. With a good driver and I/E it may be possible to win till the end of 2nd gear

nice....but i would never down shift to 1st from 20mph...2nd sounds nice though!

Droppin it in 1st from 20 mph is tough because it does lock up sort of...but once u get it into 1st u just let up off the clutch about half way...nice n easy...theres really no need to downshift that hard though, we do have brakes..lol

I have dropped it into 1st going about 20mph, it is horrible. I bet it is terrible for the car also :(

manual to manual, the base rsx will rape us. Auto rsx to manual vic, manual vic will win slightly. Manual base rsx to auto vic, haha.....
