LX Civic vs 99 Beetle!
 

My cuz was talking smack about his "mad" shifting abilities, and wanted to race my Civic with his dad's green Volkswagen bug (Stock as stock can be). So we lined up at the first set of reds we got to...

The light turned green, and I didnt get that great of a jump, but I pulled on him in first easily, then he shifted into second and slowly inched up, then went to third and pulled ahead...I let up when he was about 1.5 car lengths ahead of me.

However, I must mentiong that I had 3 people in the car with me, and our accumulated weight was 620 pounds. Would I have been able to beat his Standard 99 VW Beetle with my 03 Auto LX If it was just me in the car?

I'd say you would have killed him with no one in your car. You should try it again

Do you think I could take him just by myself? I mean, he was pulling pretty good on me in third...but...

Usually when I race (rarely) I accelerate, then release the brake when the light goes green, and I chirp. But this time there was no chirping at all...the extra weight saw to that.

Even with ONE passenger I feel a serious difference in my cars performance. Since I drive by myself 98% of the time, the difference is obvious as soon as I punch the throttle.

yea i have an 03 auto lx and with 2 other ppl in my car (like 300 lbs) i feel the difference a lot and when i had my box and subs in with ppl my car was just like blah but by myself with no ppl its fastER im not gonna say fast bc i have an auto LX

Race him again just for the hell of it, with no people in the car, and tell us what happened.

Try it again (by yourself) and I'm sure you'll get him.

I took a neon that had a passenger once, and we all know that neons should be faster than a civic.

Id say race right before you fill up on gas too. That'll make a difference too.

Take the people out of your car. Then try again.

Then again, you have auto...

what you did was even the power to weight ratio. lol I think with just you it'd be close but I dont think you'll win.

A 7th gen civic is faster than a new beetle. Period. I don't know what the heck you did when racing, but seriously... the beetle is one of the slowest turds to ever grace the planet.

my mom has a new convertible beetle.. they are the slowest POS ever.
kinda sad when a civic LX is the fastest car in the family right now :(
