Bryan's 05 em2

I've decided to share my slow progress of my 2005 Civic. My build is really slow so.. just bare with me. I only work on it once a week.

Here is my car, just minor stuff on it. Date 6/25/2011

Attachment 93841
I like beefy tires, that tire size is ridiculous for the car.

Attachment 93842

On that date, I put on Crower Stage 1 Camshaft, DC Sport Ceramic Header 4-2-1, Apexi Cat-Back Exhaust, injectors, wheels, fogs, high output alternator, trans cooler, lowered just the front, and stuff just to make it look nice.

I also did a wire tuck on the engine bay chassis, did a rear disk conversion, DIY OEM black out headlights.

I bought some crappy 16" Rota GT3. I fixed the ugliness.

I had fun with my civic even though its an automatic.. =(

Sooo... I'm going to pursue what I want.
Manual swap.. $400 for the transmission w/ <70k miles and subframe
I've spend about like $550 for the whole swap items.

Attachment 93846

I started in November 2012. I'm gonna do a lot more since I'm already here.
This it how it looks now.

That's it for now...
Any advice or comments are helpful. Thanks

Yes. All the time, but I rather put it in my EK.
For me, its the experience of working on my em2. Turbocharging the D17 is what I set for a goal and after that, the K-swap is still possible.

I traded my hood and front bumper for a ACT Stage 3 Clutch Set..
And then I couldn't pass up when a saw an eBay listing for a VIS Carbon Fiber Hood..
I won the bidding for $315. It looks nice even if it was used.

This EM2 looks menacing. It must be those tires!

Can't wait to see it with that CF hood. This thing looks killer.

I've been busy working on my truck, rebuilt the transmission and transfer case since it blew, a lot of steering and suspension service. Tie rods, idler arm, upper and lower ball joints, hub bearings, axles ans such. I need to finish it ASAP since I drive it most of the time. If you ever serviced a GM truck, you know what I'm talking about. Original ball joints have rivets!! Pain and time consuming to take out.

But here's a small update. I got a deal for a Supertech valvetrain kit for $300. Consisting of Valve Springs, Exhaust & Intake Valves, Tatanium Retainers, Valve Seals. Awesome shiny parts, haha.

Here it is installed and I left the Stage 1 Camshaft there for now, until I can get a Stage 2. I probably sell it to get funds for the Stage 2.

By the way, how do you edit pictures on the image code? It comes up too big.

SMALL UPDATE:

I've been calling and emailing machine shop to get Darton Sleeves installed in the D17, but I came across CSS (cylinder support system) by CNCWerx.

I called him and he said he never did a D17 block before so I told him to give it a try, its very similar to the D16 block.
He said I may have to wait because he has to take measurements and stuff.

Better than a block guard from what they describe. People swore by it and till this date, he never had a failure. Guaranteed and money back up to 500hp. So I'll give it a try.

Haven't done much lately. Started to tear down block to send to CNCWerx for the CSS. Took off some rust in the engine bay and sprayed with bare metal primer.
I still haven't bought paint.

Here's some sneak peek of some on going plans.

Interesting place to put ABS
Wonder if I can stuff the cruise control box in there

Yea, but its functional. The only place I can think of that will be easy to reach. ABS is always helpful so I want to keep it.

Cruise control will probably fit there. It's about the same size as the ABS Module.

Quick question. Does anybody know if the 7th gen came with a manual rack and pinion?

I run on non-power steering, with the loop. I've searched but couldn't find any info for manual steering rack. Thanks for any help.

Haha yea they work great! And look good too :) I had one hell of a time converting my drums though. The brake lines were rusted to all hell to I had to cut them and add fresh line on to it, without ever having flared brake line before....good times lol.

Things are going very slow.. block is torn down but haven't sent it out yet.

I was a little bored so I decided to clean up the Type-S suspension that I got a long while ago. It has about 5000 miles and I picked it up for $80. It has minor rust but after sitting in a shed for a while, it got worst than I thought.
I'll change the bushings when I order new ones.

Only did the rears for now. I apologize for the phone pics. I don't have that great of a camera.

Re: Bryan's 05 em2

Hello everyone. I haven’t been here in a long while. Long story short, I was very busy, working two jobs before, got into a motorcycle in 2015, and I finally got into working on it little by little in the summer of 2018.
The only this is I didn’t take a lot of documentation.

Basically i I started where I left of with just the engine bay painted, but I already have the engine built since.
I still have the Crower Stage 1 Camshaft, Wiseco Pistons, K1 Rods, Titanium Valvesprings/Retainers and the CSS Block Guard.

Here’s where I am now.

Here’s my ZX9R.

Here’s a little documentation of the process.

I changed all the brake lines to Stainless steel.
