Bryan's 05 em2 8 Attachment(s) I've decided to share my slow progress of my 2005 Civic. My build is really slow so.. just bare with me. I only work on it once a week. Here is my car, just minor stuff on it. Date 6/25/2011 Attachment 93840 Attachment 93841 I like beefy tires, that tire size is ridiculous for the car. Attachment 93842 On that date, I put on Crower Stage 1 Camshaft, DC Sport Ceramic Header 4-2-1, Apexi Cat-Back Exhaust, injectors, wheels, fogs, high output alternator, trans cooler, lowered just the front, and stuff just to make it look nice. I also did a wire tuck on the engine bay chassis, did a rear disk conversion, DIY OEM black out headlights. I bought some crappy 16" Rota GT3. I fixed the ugliness. BEFORE Attachment 93843 AFTER Attachment 93844 Attachment 93845 I had fun with my civic even though its an automatic.. =( Sooo... I'm going to pursue what I want. Manual swap.. $400 for the transmission w/ <70k miles and subframe I've spend about like $550 for the whole swap items. Attachment 93846 I started in November 2012. I'm gonna do a lot more since I'm already here. This it how it looks now. Attachment 93847 That's it for now... Any advice or comments are helpful. Thanks |

Awesome... ever consider k20? For me, its the experience of working on my em2. Turbocharging the D17 is what I set for a goal and after that, the K-swap is still possible. |
Re: Bryan's 05 em2 Looks like a good build. any plans on shaving all the holes as well? |

Looks like a good build. any plans on shaving all the holes as well? I would love to shave the bay, but i have no idea how to weld.. I'll just paint it so it looks nicer. right now its ready for paint but i havent touch the car since two weeks ago. I didnt even buy paint yet. |
Re: Bryan's 05 em2 2 Attachment(s) I traded my hood and front bumper for a ACT Stage 3 Clutch Set.. And then I couldn't pass up when a saw an eBay listing for a VIS Carbon Fiber Hood.. I won the bidding for $315. It looks nice even if it was used. Attachment 93837 Attachment 93838 |
Re: Bryan's 05 em2 Looks very clean |
Re: Bryan's 05 em2 This EM2 looks menacing. It must be those tires! Can't wait to see it with that CF hood. This thing looks killer. |
Re: Bryan's 05 em2 Looks great, can't wait for the updates! |
Re: Bryan's 05 em2 6 Attachment(s) I've been busy working on my truck, rebuilt the transmission and transfer case since it blew, a lot of steering and suspension service. Tie rods, idler arm, upper and lower ball joints, hub bearings, axles ans such. I need to finish it ASAP since I drive it most of the time. If you ever serviced a GM truck, you know what I'm talking about. Original ball joints have rivets!! Pain and time consuming to take out. But here's a small update. I got a deal for a Supertech valvetrain kit for $300. Consisting of Valve Springs, Exhaust & Intake Valves, Tatanium Retainers, Valve Seals. Awesome shiny parts, haha. Attachment 93763 ... Attachment 93764 ... Attachment 93765 ... Attachment 93766 ... Attachment 93767 Here it is installed and I left the Stage 1 Camshaft there for now, until I can get a Stage 2. I probably sell it to get funds for the Stage 2. Attachment 93768 http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y37...2/IMG_1430.jpg By the way, how do you edit pictures on the image code? It comes up too big. |
Re: Bryan's 05 em2 Man those parts are beefy. |
Re: Bryan's 05 em2 good thread. |
Re: Bryan's 05 em2 Very nice dude! |
Re: Bryan's 05 em2 nice build |
Re: Bryan's 05 em2 looks like things are coming together |
Re: Bryan's 05 em2 SMALL UPDATE: I've been calling and emailing machine shop to get Darton Sleeves installed in the D17, but I came across CSS (cylinder support system) by CNCWerx. I called him and he said he never did a D17 block before so I told him to give it a try, its very similar to the D16 block. He said I may have to wait because he has to take measurements and stuff. Better than a block guard from what they describe. People swore by it and till this date, he never had a failure. Guaranteed and money back up to 500hp. So I'll give it a try. http://www.b20vtec.com/forums/engine...rt-system.html |
Re: Bryan's 05 em2 Keep us updated to see how it goes. |
Re: Bryan's 05 em2 Nice progress! Keep us posted |
Re: Bryan's 05 em2 4 Attachment(s) Haven't done much lately. Started to tear down block to send to CNCWerx for the CSS. Took off some rust in the engine bay and sprayed with bare metal primer. I still haven't bought paint. Here's some sneak peek of some on going plans. D17Y8 Intake Manifold. Lol.:) Attachment 93692 Mock-up ABS/Brake Lines that I started before prepping the bay. Thanks to bryan.0831 for these! http://muskokacarclub.com/gallery/im...1&image_id=133 I was browsing around and saw this. LOL! You're welcome. ( a year later) I never even tried it. My wife was mad when I sold it, but at least it went to some good use. |
Re: Bryan's 05 em2 Quick question. Does anybody know if the 7th gen came with a manual rack and pinion? I run on non-power steering, with the loop. I've searched but couldn't find any info for manual steering rack. Thanks for any help. |

Re: Bryan's 05 em2 2 Attachment(s) Things are going very slow.. block is torn down but haven't sent it out yet. I was a little bored so I decided to clean up the Type-S suspension that I got a long while ago. It has about 5000 miles and I picked it up for $80. It has minor rust but after sitting in a shed for a while, it got worst than I thought. I'll change the bushings when I order new ones. Only did the rears for now. I apologize for the phone pics. I don't have that great of a camera. Attachment 93629 Attachment 93630 |
Re: Bryan's 05 em2 1 Attachment(s) Haven't done anything for a while.. and I will not be doing updates for a while. Focusing on this badboy.. Attachment 93613 See ya later!! |
Re: Bryan's 05 em2 6 Attachment(s) SMALL UPDATE: I finally painted the bay. I went with black since I got the carbon fiber hood to go along with and extra from the Bel Air. BC/CC paint job. AFTER THE THIRD COAT OF BASE: Attachment 93477 FINISHED: Attachment 93479 Attachment 93481 |

Re: Bryan's 05 em2 Hello everyone. I haven’t been here in a long while. Long story short, I was very busy, working two jobs before, got into a motorcycle in 2015, and I finally got into working on it little by little in the summer of 2018. The only this is I didn’t take a lot of documentation. Basically i I started where I left of with just the engine bay painted, but I already have the engine built since. I still have the Crower Stage 1 Camshaft, Wiseco Pistons, K1 Rods, Titanium Valvesprings/Retainers and the CSS Block Guard. Here’s where I am now. https://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y3...CFBC30EDC.jpeg Here’s my ZX9R. https://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y3...A3477849C.jpeg Here’s a little documentation of the process. https://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y3...51D5F3940.jpeg https://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y3...EFE150E14.jpeg https://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y3...B89895048.jpeg I changed all the brake lines to Stainless steel. https://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y3...BC86C58BC.jpeg https://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y3...D3FCCCBB7.jpeg https://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y3...9CB87BEC9.jpeg I will I’ll find more pictures for viewing pleasure. Thanks for looking! |
