Questions about parts for a 2009 Civic Si I'm lookin to do some work for my 2009 Civic Si. I'm stuck between a regular cold air intake or a short ram air intake. The two cold air intakes i'm stuck with is Injen or AEM. No clue about the short ram air intake. Anyone have any advice on what to go with here? |
Re: Questions about parts for a 2009 Civic Si Well logically CAI's are better than SRI's. I have a 2002 Civic and I put a K&N Typhoon SRI on it. Mild performance boost, sounds really good, and it only took like 45 mins to install. I've had no experience with CAI's, but I know they are better performance wise. As far as brands, a lot of people argue between Injen and AEM. Like I said, I have a K&N SRI which sounds and looks good, so I can't really comment on those brands. I heard Fujita intakes are good as well. This is a before and after of my intake: http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...P8020228-1.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...P8260266-1.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...4/P8230431.png |
Re: Questions about parts for a 2009 Civic Si AEM with the dryflow filter. I'm pretty sure the dryflow is what AEM gives you with the intake kits nowadays. As far as CAI vs SRI, it's up to you. I had a fear of hydrolocking my engine with flash flood warning status rains here in Vegas (and hurricane season when I was stationed in south carolina) made me choose an SRI over a CAI |
Re: Questions about parts for a 2009 Civic Si I have the same concerns as Riceboy, so I installed an Injen SRI; Mild performance gains, sounds nice, looks GREAT, easy to change the filter since its right there and I'm not running the risk of hydrolocking my engine. Check this out. https://www.civicforums.com/forums/7...wers-here.html |
Re: Questions about parts for a 2009 Civic Si Oh yea, hydrolocking. Forgot about that. That's another reason I chose SRI over CAI. But if you live in an area without much rain, then a CAI would be fine. Just don't want water in your engine. |
Re: Questions about parts for a 2009 Civic Si if you don't know what hydrolock is, it's when water gets into you engine (specifically combustion chambers). Since water is a liquid and incompressible (hence why hydraulic systems work), water in the combustion chamber causes the compressible volume to be decreased and can result in bent rods. |
Re: Questions about parts for a 2009 Civic Si I had an AEM CAI when I purchased my car. It came with it. Had a water shield on it, but I saved up money and ended up buying an AEM SRI, which came with the dryflow filter. About a 10 minute install. I've seen the bays in the new Sis, so I'd think it would be little more? Lol. So cramped. I found that the SRI seems to give my car more pep with normal driving(3500rpms max per shift). Sounds a little better too. The CAI seems to be much more performance oriented like the others have said. |
Re: Questions about parts for a 2009 Civic Si Thanks for all the replys. I'm stationed in Ohio, so it rain quite frequently.. I guess i'll look for an SRI. Sounds like more people like the AEM or the Injen then?? As far as performance and possibly gas gain? |
Re: Questions about parts for a 2009 Civic Si I'd personally go with AEM.. The dryflow filter is what does it for me. Oiling a filter is a pain in the ass.. As opposed to washing the filter in a bucket with the cleaning solution you have to buy. lol |

Re: Questions about parts for a 2009 Civic Si yeah i even do mine every 6 months and its just spraying some cleaner, hosing it off, let it dry, and spray on the oil. i have two filters so i can just oil the second one and pop it on without waiting :) |
