Now as far as the head goes... its a B16 head and whoever put it together torqued the cam caps down WAY too tight... so the cams have some grooves... Id like to get a new head (or damn near close to new). But ive seen / heard that going with a GSR or Type-R head isnt exactly the best way to go. people have said that B16 is the way to go and just get head work done. if i get a new head im gonna do mostly EVERYTHING there is to do to it before it goes in my car. (port and polish, valve job, etc..) what would you recommend? |
Re: B18C Winter upgrade / fixing time. /hype stick with b16 head and get port and polish, 5 angle valve job, cam, springs and retainers, adjustable cam gear (aem 5 bolt preferably), etc. but be careful, port and polish is easy to mess up and different for na vs turbo. for turbo, you want both intake and exhaust sides done, since its best to have the most airflow possible. do not mill the head to raise compression (unless its not perfectly straight and needs a tiny bit shaved down), otherwise you will blow head gaskets. you could even see if they make oversize race valves for that head and stick those in. be sure once everything is assembled and the valves are adjusted properly that you prep it with assembly lube and everything. no need to have a dry start and take years of life off the parts. |
Re: B18C Winter upgrade / fixing time. /hype oh ofcourse. im having Xenocron tuning do a bunch of the work cause my boss doesnt let us work on our cars at work lol. |
Re: B18C Winter upgrade / fixing time. /hype Oh, any suggestions on suspension parts. Like which parts are good for street / drag. thanks in advance |
Re: B18C Winter upgrade / fixing time. /hype depends what you want the car to do i guess. for road racing, you can get some pretty high quality pieces. just stick with name brands and dont lower the car too much. |
Re: B18C Winter upgrade / fixing time. /hype no pictures then the car doesn't exist. |
Re: B18C Winter upgrade / fixing time. /hype Ive posted pics of the car on here before but that was a few months ago... so here ya go!! (i know the date is wrong, and i need to get new ones now that the engine bay is a bit cleaner.) http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...3b6be55646.jpg http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...1f814f02c9.jpg http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...75943c7e3f.jpg http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...6ffa6eb637.jpg http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...6d221e66a1.jpg http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...a7fe6b4b2a.jpg http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...1000ef87db.jpg http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...36f9315939.jpg http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...edeb68b395.jpg |
Re: B18C Winter upgrade / fixing time. /hype dam you got a soda cannon lol how does your bumper not melt ???. do you travel threw connecticut i think i have seen that car before ???. |
Re: B18C Winter upgrade / fixing time. /hype haha, nope never driven in Connecticut with this car. i wonder if santa is gonna bring me my new axels!! lol OH BY THE WAY (ill start a new thread for this) id like to start a list of some people that have some cars that they would like to show off at some car shows. In my town there is a HUGE car show the first tuesday of the month, every month, throughout spring and summer. i would like to get a few people to come down. and show off their hard work. there are a handful of very nice boosted / all motor civics, 2 Supras, 2 Evo's, a twin turbo 1000HP Viper, twin turbo GT500 stang, the list goes on and on and on. they usually have burnout contests and there are over 30 trophies for different types of cars and work done and what not. i will have more info on these car shows as we get closer to spring. |
Re: B18C Winter upgrade / fixing time. /hype UPDATE!! I am replacing the B16A head that is on the car now with a fully built type-R head. It is a Type R DOHC VTEC head orignally. It has been ported by Mike Belben, full port job for a Turbo Application. It comes with Supertech Dual Valve Springs and Titanium Retainers, stock size Supertech Valves (intake and exhaust) with a special Belben valve job that sinks the valves into the head further up and essentially makes them act like over sized valves without the worry of valve or piston clearancing issues. so after that is all said and done i will be doing the following. -New clutch -new axels -upgrade to hondata S300 she getting closer to being dyno'd and brought to the track :) |
