So it begins... The New Ride

Okay- so I found out that my car is a total loss. I towed it to a buddies shop to see if there was anything he could do with it, and he just shook his head and said boot it on out. So here is how it stands... I need to find a new ride.

I have a handful of critical criteria:

1) Fuel Efficient. My civic averaged about 34-35mpg of mixed driving. I would like to see that again.
2) Larger. It doesn't have to be HUGE larger, but the Coupe thing got old. Hatchback or larger.
3) Looks. I loved my civic, but it got a little old after a while. The 02 style was a little bland in my mind. So I'd like to find at least an 04-05 or other unique vehicle.
4) Options. I won't settle for anything less than an EX in a civic, and would like to at least see- ABS, Moonroof, Power windows\locks\mirrors, keyless entry.
5) Price. I would like to keep it under $15,000. After thinking about plunging more cash into something more entertaining, I have made the realization that it's smarter for me to get something economical first and foremost.

To match these criteria, I've come up with a handful of options:

1) 04-05 Civic Sedan. Getting rarer and rarer in my price range in this area. Especially in a manual, which I would prefer.
2) Matrix XR\Vibe GT. Decent gas milage, huge interior, I like the looks of the 1gb Vibe better than all the rest. Want to avoid AWD. Hard to find, again.
3) Pontiac G6. A little boring, but there are a decent number of options in terms of trim and color. There are some pretty sharp looking lips, and I can still pursue some of my planned projects.

Outside of those three.... I don't know... Any ideas? I have 3,000 for a downpayment, decent credit, and can afford a 275-350 a month for a car note so.... *shrugs* If anyone has any thoughts, throw them in....

I wouldn't trade my 04/05 4dr for anything else at this point. The mileage is awesome, and I love the 4drs:) If you've done any mods you could put a lot of them on the 4dr as well.

My buddy has an 05 Matrix, and it's a good car as well, I think either or are good options.

Get a used type S...meet all 5 steps or a used honda fit if you want more utility then power.

I say stick with the Civic.

Matrix would be second, but I hear a couple of bad things about them, even though they're Toyota. Mainly comfort issues.

And, I would stay away from all domestics, lol. They're trying to up their game, but they can't touch imports in gas mileage and price. Yes, domestics are superior in comfort, but for the options you stated, you can get the same in imports.

Civic, IMO, is the way to go. You're already acquainted with the car, and the sedans look better modded than the coupes.

*ducks for cover*

Pontiac vibes, are horrible for gas mileage, they start out fine, once it hits about 60K on the engine... its just turns to crap... i use them for my company cars(2008 GT's)... they eat gas like crazy. The automatics shift too hard, the cruise control doesn't really work when going up hills.

Don't know much about the man. trans. But I don't recommend the Vibe at all.

the vibe is just a rebaged toyota matrix. There made in the same california plant. I think your slightly over exaggerating because i dont hear matrix owners making the same kind of complaints.

Mk4 Golf TDi
Ep3 wont get the milage but solves your space issue.
I second the Mazda 3 Hatch
I suppose if you can find a (probably rare as hell) Matrix with the Celica GTS motor (1ZZ MFE?) you'd be in business. They might have made it for 2 years.
