Used Tein Basic hey guys i found this dude selling basic tein on my craiglist. He say the coilovers has about 1000 miles on them. im thinking he could be lying. Is there any trick or ways to tell if the coilovers are in good shape? like if its blown or anything. he's letting them go for $500. |
Re: Used Tein Basic i guess look for fading on the lettering? iono. lol |
Re: Used Tein Basic Used suspension components are risky. Good luck. |
Re: Used Tein Basic you can't really tell unless you would have to open it up and have a specialist look into it...just save up for a new one bro! |
Re: Used Tein Basic hmm darn. there isnt really a way to tell |
Re: Used Tein Basic tell him to show you a receipt |
Re: Used Tein Basic or a CC purchase invoice online or something. He might say F U, but if he's willing to do it, it's probalby legit. If he staggers and says no, then forget it! |
Re: Used Tein Basic i bought my basics used, and they've been fine for 50,000+ miles already. and the owner before me, put about 20,000 miles. So you can buy used coilovers. You just gotta check them thoroughly for leaks, blown shocks etc... |
Re: Used Tein Basic theres a dude selling Tein Flex Coils in the f/s section:shrug: |
Re: Used Tein Basic hmm thanks everyone for inputs. |
Re: Used Tein Basic wait i forgot. would sedan basic work for coupe? |
Re: Used Tein Basic ^^ yayyup |
Re: Used Tein Basic yeah man basically you just need to check your leaks and hopefully he can provide you with an invoice. you can gamble and take your chances but honestly i wouldnt buy used suspension unless i know the owner personally. |
Re: Used Tein Basic If they're really really worn, you'll know. Like mine Ive had for god like 45000 plus, and they have some rust spots tiny ones, and the paint is cracking off. but I don't know I think it's because I never keep them clean. I think if you buy them used, you'll be able to tell how long they were used for. |
Re: Used Tein Basic yeah.. ask for a receipt or some sort of proof of purchase. and since he's on craigslist, if he CAN show you one, they may be worth looking at at least... you don't go to the dealership and buy a car without looking at it...why would you for used suspension? |
Re: Used Tein Basic hahah yeah i shouldnt take a chance i should just get brand new. thanks everyone! |
Re: Used Tein Basic GET IT USED!!!!! RECONSIDER! jk |
Re: Used Tein Basic okay i finally put in my order for brand new tein basic plus spc front / rear camber kit. now i keep seeing different answers. Do i need i need 01 top mount? |

Re: Used Tein Basic What year is your car and where did you purchase your tein basics? I have a 2002 civic and I was considering getting Tein basics as well. I'm glad I read this thread because I didn't know we had to use 01 upper mounts. Are there any other info that we need to know about? |
Re: Used Tein Basic i bout my from truehonda.com but the price on there is wrong. i found that out after i put my order in so they called me and i negotiate with them. yeah all i know is just u need a 01 top mount. |
Re: Used Tein Basic so which number do i need for the 01 top mount? http://i34.tinypic.com/b3so4n.gif |
Re: Used Tein Basic Oh ok. Thanks for your input! |
Re: Used Tein Basic number 9 |
Re: Used Tein Basic thats it? wat about 7 and 2 because i think mine are ripped. |
Re: Used Tein Basic then get those too. When i bought mine, that's about all i had. it was a gray ring only. cost me like 16-20 somethign bucks forgot |
Re: Used Tein Basic I woudl email tein themselves though. Thats what i did before and they gave me the part number to order. I would do that. they usually email within a day or two. - email them to see if they updated their parts. i think they might have fixed the problem ever since then. i bought it when it first came out and it had that problem, but they might have fixed it since it was a problem with a lot of cars. EMAIL THEM |
Re: Used Tein Basic kus when i lowered my car with skunk2 sleeves. my # 2 the rubber ripped so i cutted it off. iono do i need it? |
