I wear boots..What are you looking at?

Well as everyone knows prolly i drive a 01 Honda civic ex coupe..its got all that blah ricer stuff..So i've had my mind set on a truck and i got to thinking..the stable at my house is 07 Chevy Tahoe..04 Gmc 2500 HD 4x4...1993 Geo trcker 4x4..and 01 Honda.. So why should i get rid of my car ( which i like on some days) when i can drive something at the house when i want to a fix my vic how i want it? And yes i am from Kentucky and i wear my boots and carhardt jacket everyone and the response is not to warm when i get out the tuner lol. Anyways i know i'll never be like speedfoo's, or drew22mader or triz but here is the list of stuff i want just tell me what you think... Cf hood, Cf trunk, New wheels and tires (my tires are cambered out with 6,000 miles on them), Factory front bumper, and rear. maybe a k20 if my makes a dent in the hood soon..and a lip kit and good coilover system..i think the $6,000 i was gonna spend on trade in for a truck will be almost enough to cover everything..just looking for some advice wanting to see what others would do....thanks

Suspension is the best start imo

I have learned the hard way

Re: I wear boots..What are you looking at?

well you should search for that. There are many threads regarding suspension.
I'm on Tein S.Tech and stock struts which isn't recommended, because the struts may blow on me eventually.
It's whatever you prefer.
Some give a big drop and some give a small drop

i think the 6k will cover most if not all of that, as long as you're not serious about the k-swap. that'll run at least 5k for the engine alone. unless you find a REALLY good deal :D

good luck

Dude, you have no idea how much sweat equity I've put into my car and how long it took me to get to where I am with it. Plus I'm 31 years old, and make a decent of money each year thanks to you taxpayers to be able to afford the mods I've put on the car. So while I appreciate the offhand compliment, I'm a working stiff like everyone else, and if the Army hadn't dumped a cherry TDY (temporary duty) in my lap where I was able to make $$s, I never would have been able to buy the turbo stuff.

Here's my .02 on the mods you're thinking of. CF hood and trunk. Why bother with it before you make the car fun to drive? I bought my car with a CF hood, and while it was neat for the first 2 years, all the rock chips I started getting made it look like shit. So I filled them with body putty and painted it (in my garage for $40 in paint). I'm much happier now than with the CF. The trunk, meh. If you going to get subs, she'll probably rattle like crazy. Plus CF is not forgiving like sheet metal is. You slam a CF trunk down on something sticking out of your trunk and you're cracking clearcoat or splitting the edge. Stock trunk will give more damage than it will take.

Suspension, wheels and tires will make you happier than a new trunk and hood. Think about it. That's $800+ saved towards your k-swap if you're serious about it. You feel the suspension upgrades everytime you drive it. The trunk and hood.....meh, sure you see the hood all the time, but so do thieves, cops, moron ricer kids, and jealous folks who will want to **** up your car because it's nicer than theirs.

With the k-swap, you get the sound, the performance, and the reliability of a well-built stock engine, that's a good platform to mod from. Six gears, an 8500 redline, what's not to like? Oh yeah. No BOV. But hey, you can add boost to a K20 if you want to.

I don't know. Maybe it's because I'm old and neither jolly nor an elf that I'm not into all the flash and whatnot of CF, projectors, LED tails, and body kits. But I'll take solid performance in a clean looking car over bling any day of the week.

/soapbox.

i say go for a swap. you could start by getting some suspension stuff, but i think that the swap is the way to go. even if you dont have all of the money to get it now, you can start buying things and saving for the rest of the stuff.
