Re: paint drums or no? I think it depends on the body to wheel color combo that makes a difference to the color you decide to paint your calipers. I did mine red, thought it looked gaudy.... so I'll strip the drums and calipers and flat blk em. |
Re: paint drums or no? silver is hot on drums |

alpha5 why didnt you just take the drums off to paint them? |
Re: paint drums or no? Nice DIY, but it is way easier to take the drum off the car and paint it on some newspaper. BTW, why the hell does this thread have 33 posts? |
Re: paint drums or no? EHHH... i'm clearing them as we speak. I decided against the gloss black because it'd make my rims look like steelies without hubcaps. I wirebrushed them down to the dark metal color and now I'm just clearcoating them. |
Re: paint drums or no? Why hold back go all Big Brake Kit all the way around... But if funds are low can't go wrong with glossy black. |
Re: paint drums or no? 2 Attachment(s) The finished product...... much better than flat or gloss black IMO, esp to make my black wheels contrast better. https://www.civicforums.com/forums/a...1&d=1192584625\ https://www.civicforums.com/forums/a...1&d=1192584625 |
Re: paint drums or no? what color is that |
Re: paint drums or no? Clearcoat on de-rusted drums that I used a wirebrush and drill to clean. |
Re: paint drums or no? it looks like gloss black |
Re: paint drums or no? sorry bruh' im not feelin em? i would have left em alone myself, but if your happy then..... |
Re: paint drums or no? yea im not feelin it either... i say paint them black... glossy or flat it doesn't matter, but regular de-rust and clear is rubbing me all types of wrong. btw: what springs are those? |
Re: paint drums or no? looks like eibach? |

Re: paint drums or no? As long as your happy. I think it turned out okay. I went with black to hide the ugliness of the rusted drum. Sanded with a wire brush like you did too. |
Re: paint drums or no? sweet ride man..i wud say flat black, it'll stop the rust but wont stand out 2 much.. |
Re: paint drums or no? i was considering the same for my civic but my civic is red (2000) should i do mine red? Making yours black would make it look really nice |
Re: paint drums or no? gloss black |
Re: paint drums or no? I know this thread is old, but I'd rather post here then get ridiculed for staring a new one ("use the search noob/lazy ass") I want to paint my calipers red and was thinking flat black on the drums. Here's my questions: Is it stupid/ricey to have them different colors? Should I do them both black? Should I do them both red? |
Re: paint drums or no? only doushbags paint there drums if you dont like the drums swap it out for a ep3 rear disc brake setup |
Re: paint drums or no? i must be douchebag then oh well. black looks better than brown rust color. they come black from the factory too. |
Re: paint drums or no? You think Flat black on the back and Red Gloss up front wont look ricey? I think it'll look good but i'll be damned if I make my civic look like a ricer. Nothing worse then getting associated with the idiots that throw on a fart can. |
Re: paint drums or no? get rear disc brakes |
Re: paint drums or no? By the time I spend money on EP3 rear brakes im lookin at close to $1000 b/w the parts and install. Im a strugling college student so this will only hold me over till I get a real job. |
Re: paint drums or no? get rear disc brakes. 1 looks better and 2 better stopping power |
Re: paint drums or no? Oh I completely agree, I just cant afford it right now. I need something somewhat sporty looking for the next 2 years...as I said before, once I get my degree and get a real job I'm gunna go ape shit on upgrades to my civic (or just buy an Evo 8  ) |

Re: paint drums or no? I think rust looks bad too. I have an '01 with rusty rear drums. Not getting discs, so I need to do something as well. I think glosyy black looks bad...atleast that last picture I saw of it did. Looked fake or something. |
