5 lug and 17" HFP wheels

Well after I install my coilovers i want to do a new wheel and tire set up. I want to do the 5 lug conversion and use the 17" HFP wheels that come on the Si's as an option. Any comments or criticism, how do you guys think it will look on a black coupe slammed?

I think it's a great idea! I like how they look, and would look great on a black coupe... and so everyone doesn't have to click the link...

Do you have a K-Swap? If not, have fun having custom axles made...

KCblackVP 02-14-2007 11:10 AM

I wasnt aware that you HAD to do the k-swap. I thought the RSX suspension just bolted up to our cars. atleast thats what ive read.

01HonderCivic 02-14-2007 11:28 AM

They do. But the Axles between D & K are totally different. D series Axles won't fit into K series Spindles. So unless you get the outer part of a K series welded onto the inner part of a D series axle (Wouldn't recommend doing this, unless you're going to drive the car like a grandma), or you have a company make you brand new ones from the ground up (at least 800 dollars)

Well damn.. any one have any experience with the adapters that convert your 4x100 to a 5x114 lug pattern? I've also seen that around. I want these wheels! lol, the only other option would be to go with the 16" fit HFP wheels.

this will look great.... but ur gonna be end up spending like 4 g's after all said and done

Those wheels are 18's not 17's

lxcivic2k1 02-14-2007 02:53 PM

They come in both 18 and 17 for the 8thgen. I think they'd look nice but it'd prolly be cheaper to get a set of aftermarket rims and tires from an online store.

5 lug conversion says, "Come steal this car!!!" IMO, its over rated for factory 4x100s.

DDragon7 02-14-2007 07:14 PM

I hear those rims are extremely light. Could be picked up by one finger.

vacivic2005 02-14-2007 07:39 PM

do it, they are going to look great.

KCblackVP 02-14-2007 09:37 PM

Im not to worried about my car getting stolen, it sits in a garage most the time and yeah, i want to get them in 17's. Should i go with the 5 lug conversion and the 17's or the 16" fit wheels and stay 4 lug?

ragingSPAM 02-14-2007 11:38 PM

if you dont plan on doing any hard driving you can get 4 to 5 lug spacer adapters on ebay for about $150 + shipping...they have 2 spacers one to bolt to your stock lugs and you bolt that up to the 5 lug adapter...its perfectly safe as long as you dont do any hard driving, dragging, racing etc...but if u do than you gonna have to do a lot of conversion work

Nameless 02-15-2007 02:33 AM

^ That would probably create some problems in terms of wheel offsets and alignment issues.

PM BattleEndless... he did the 5bolt conversion on his '04 civic without doing the kswap. I remember him telling me he had to custom fab it with part of the new 8thgen driveshaft and a 7thgen one. You'll have to ask him.

thats a good point about the d vs k axles....for that much money wouldnt it be smarter to just turbo and get u some nice strong lightweight enkeis??

nice, i'd like more info on this. anyone here on 7th gen done this mod? if so, how safe is this? i definitely dont race so that wouldn't be an issue...

Kevbotron 02-15-2007 07:30 AM

This all seems like wayyy too much hassle for one extra lug to accomodate a specific wheel. the fit's 16" look pretty good, and you won't have to do all this work. I dunno how trustworthy that E-Bay 5lug adapter sounds:shrug:

not bad -->http://automobiles.honda.com/images/...007028_mid.jpg

KCblackVP 02-15-2007 10:22 AM

I think i am going to go with the fits 16" HFP wheel.. less hassle and still looks good! although 5 lug sounds amazing and so do 17's.

KCblackVP 02-16-2007 01:09 AM

I have one concern with the 16's, does anyone think the will look too small on the EM2? i just want the car to look amazingly clean and well put together, and i believe wheels make a car.

01HonderCivic 02-16-2007 01:15 AM

There's nothing wrong with 16 inch wheels on a 7thgen. Personally I have 17's and think that proportionally, they look the best. I'd say probably 50% of people who have aftermarket rims on a 7thgen, have 17's...I pulled that number out of my ass, but that seems about right

05_ CivicJDM 02-16-2007 02:48 AM

Those HFP Rims are nice!!

a couple have done it. if you do base rsx brakes, the splines line up, if you do rsx-s brakes, you have to go custom.

here's my setup. if you're interested, please search, you will find out everything, just as i did.

That looks sexy. So I just need the base RSX set up?

vacivic2005 02-17-2007 07:54 PM

yeah, but those brakes are smaller then the type s. i wanted better braking, so i went with the type s
