yeah i know, but they are already white, so thats what im gunna go with when i do ever do it.

jester444 12-13-2006 01:39 PM

Oh, I thought you meant you were gonna try and change the colors.

CenZ 12-13-2006 01:40 PM

im gunna change the console to white.

jester444 12-13-2006 01:42 PM

Got it. See, I went the other way. I changed my console to red, and now I've got to change my IC to red also.

You're running an '01-'02 IC, right? It's real easy to make those things white. Just take it apart and take out the actual piece of plastic that has the gauge face printed on it, and rub the orange filter off the back with acetone. Put some little slips of card stock over the bulbs to help diffuse them better.

It may help you decide if you want that look or not, even though it's still the old cluster.

CenZ 12-13-2006 01:45 PM

well i dont want to **** it up, i dont think i could **** up the repinning, plus i love the look of the 03+ but changing my 02 is alot cheaper. i knew i should have bought the 03 SSM lol

i would have some rims on my car right now instead of stealies

jester444 12-13-2006 01:48 PM

It's actually pretty hard to **** up. The whole assembly just snaps apart, there's no cutting or anything. I seriously doubt you could mess it up unless you're COMPLETELY mechanically incompetent.

jonjon81 12-13-2006 02:06 PM

BRIGHT!

looks good tho'

myinca 12-13-2006 03:02 PM

it's not plug and play....bc u have to sodder shit....but its not hard at all.....here's a walkthrough

http://www.ledautomotive.com/OrderInfo/01-04Civic/

click for more info on which one u want then there is an install guide

jester444 12-13-2006 03:04 PM

Yeah, their method isn't that great. That's what we mean by the "plug and play." Using factory lighting locations.

To get a good effect, you need to put an array of LEDs in series behind the plate.

CenZ 12-13-2006 04:46 PM

do a write up i wanna see how this is done.

hksjza80 12-13-2006 07:59 PM

looks really bright !

rice4lyfe 12-13-2006 10:30 PM

hmm i have installed the LED's from LEDAutomotive. Very helpful and informative instructions, but they seem a bit too dim for my liking.

and the white doesnt look white, but i guess "LED white" is not white anyways

mr.rowdy 12-13-2006 10:46 PM

Yeah that is really nice where did you get the kit at

i used their method for everything(except the speedo) and have no problems with dim spots or anything and im almost 100% sure thats what dustin did with his

haha i know huh. dude you have no idea how many time i walked in and out my apt to make sure it all worked. and when it all worked, i would forget a tool or something. right now my headlights are the Phillips Vision +50%, and the Osrams, were they in a little box with a blue base? thats how mines were? yall both got the H4 ones right? i'll look at them when i go up there if yall are there. do you plan on going up there during the break?

haha nice try , but no i took those out. i wired 16 in the HVAC and one for each button because I wanted to control the light better and needed another project.

Very nice, i like that alot. Good thing about switching bulbs out, you ever go turbo you can custom match any gauge to your gauges. Very nice man, i like alot.

thanks man, preciate it

wow so theres no way i can respond to everyones post, but thanks! i can make a write up i guess, but i have no pics of what was done. if someone has pics of their cluster (01-03) pm them to me and it will be alot easier. i did it all with 25 LEDs. now if you want the gauges brighter then you can put more (gearbox used 40 or so).

main info: bought 50 off ebay, did everything myself by super gluing the LEDs in the perfect angle on to the plastic and then soldering together and visa-versa. and the bulbs are sanded :P they are 50,000 MCD

Yeah, it works, I'm not saying it doesn't. But you get an even brighter, more even effect with an array. It's a hell of a lot more work, but worth it IMO. Gear did it in his car, I'm gonna do it in mine when I have the time.

Both of you are right. Russ is right because I used that guide for my red interior. But the LEDs weren't too bright. They were only 1500MCd I think. But then with the white ones, they are plenty. In the HVAC part, each knob has four LEDs wired in a series (+ -- +-- + -- + -- with no resistor because it equals up to 14.4v) and the bottom three buttons have one with a 510ohm resistor.

Str8UpCivic 12-15-2006 12:30 PM

it looks nice. i like it. good work.

dp_yz713 12-15-2006 12:33 PM

thanks

ajjones 12-16-2006 10:38 PM

nice job... i wanna do the same but i wanna do blue LEDs instead

Gr33nMonster 12-16-2006 11:06 PM

WOW those are really something. Can u plz tell me how to get those blue fpr the like heat controls and stuff The stock red/orange pisses me off. Thanks

dp_yz713 12-16-2006 11:49 PM

i was doing a write up but its too confusing if you have no idea what to do with the LEDs. i wrote half and had someone read it and they said they didnt understand it at all. so if anyone has any pics of the cluster opened and apart send them to me so i can make this easier.
