How long are/did your stock brakes last/lasting? I'm creeping up on 70k miles and never changed my brakes. Anybody else still rocking the stockers and for how many miles? |
im at 13K lol..... good as new still |
Just changed my front pads at 60K. |
45K now with squeaking noise on the rear right. Need change maybe?? |
I got mine replaced at 85,000 because it seemed like the car wasn't braking as good. I made a big mistake taking it to Just Brakes. They said I needed new wheel cylinders and that the back brakes weren't working at all. They charged my $410 for new brakes. I had to go back 4 times, because they didn't bleed the brake fluid correctly. The brakes squealed right away, the original brakes never did that. Now at 110,000 miles there is a rattling noise coming from the back brakes. |
Has anybody worn them down to nothing ? I'm just curious to see how long they really have been stretched for use. I still have a good 1/4" of pad, the car doesn't stop as good of course and I'll be looking to upgrade in the near future. |
I had the front pads changed at 173,000 KM (108,000 Miles). I haven't had the rear shoes done and I am at 219,000 now. |
36,000 and was left 1/4....car didnt brake as it was supposed to and was making noise.... |
Going a year and half strong at 18k miles. :] Stockies ftw! |
Midas told me the rear shoes should out last the front pads 2-1 sometimes 3-1. Meaning by your second or third front pad change you should change your rear shoes. |
I got 80,000 miles on the car, changed the front brakes about 60,000, and the rears look almost new at 80,000 when I inspected them. I dont expect to change the rear until 200,000 miles. |
changed front pads at 20k when they were at unsafe level according to trusted mechanic, now new ones are still on and im at 50k. but i try not to brake unless im 40mph or slower to prevent warpage. |
You really do baby the hell out that thing don't you? |
Gearbox's car will be like those type r's you occassionally see that are just mint like they were brand new this year. This will be in 2010 lol. I'm just playing man. |
im at 93,000 and never changed but thinking about it because i do have that many miles on them |
45k and feeling a bit week stopping wise. |
I just changed the brakes myself at 70,000. It is really easy to do, I also put on new rotors. |
at 30K...not a problem...though i cant wait until i can change them to some better pads with more stopping power |
I just replaced mine yesterday, at 38k. It was kind of making that squeak/grind noise. The mechanic said that the pads were not that bad, but id rather be safe than sorry. |
I changed the fronts at 80k, rears at 100k (probably coulda gone longer). Brake longevity depends on whether you drive more highway vs back roads, who your braking habits are, and whether you downshift a lot. It also depends if your a girl or not. My wife wears out her brakes in half the time I do. |
im at 80021 (today) and i haven't changed n e thing :) saving up for bigger better brakes. lol and gonna convert the rear drums to disks |
at 57000 now, stock all around. Still good, but will probably have the fronts changed at the 60000 mark. Stopping with 18s is deffiently more work than on the 15s. |
i'm coming up on 37000m, still appears to be at least 50% pad left on the front, probably more. I've never seen new civic pads in person tho, so I don't really have anything to compare to. I'm gong to do new pads/rotors in the spring when I put the summer wheels back on. I should have to about 45k on the car by then. I didn't know the rear shoes lasted as long as people have been saying they do. The initial plan was to leave the drums, but replace the shoes when I did the front. Now, I may just have them looked at and leave them alone. I'll do the front myself, but I don't do drum brakes. |
almost 70k all stock all around. |
damn is it really bad to brake at high speed...i dont know but everytime i start the car in the morning and back out of my driveway..there is always a clicking noise when i brake lightly/slowly...is this normal or is there something wrong with my brakes. |
Changed my front pads at about 90,000 miles still on stock rotors and rear is all stock. At 130,000 miles now with no problems. |
the calipers click once but only for the first time whenever you go forward or reverse. |
Replaced them at 50K because they were warped, pads were in great shape (little city driving). Went w/ Powerslot rotors and hawk pads, GREAT stopping ability now:tup: |
HAHA...replaced at 20k....got the rotors re-surfaced and new pads....did a crappy job at re-surfacing...upgraded to cross drilled and slotted rotors at 25k....now, im gonna get Hawk Pads for the front when i get home for Christmas...... |
Im at 60k havnt changed them yet but there is a little sqeak coming on so soon i suppose |
