Piaa 4000k
 

Hey guys Just wondering if any of you guys use piaa low beam headlight bulbs that burn 4000k with any problems. I have a pair waiting to go in and just wanted to know has anyone experienced any headlamp wiring meltdowns?

Go with HIDs - The aftermarket bulbs out there generate a lot of heat which can melt your headlight housing or fade away your reflector.

my silerstars did that for a bit, but i got some Mccullochs, and i love them no problems, they range from 3000K,4300,6000,8000,10,000,12000K. in bold in my kelvin i got. i want some yellow hid fogs, but $294.00 rightnow is a lil too expensive!.... like honda says ...go HIDs

if your piaa draws 55W then it should not have any problems with melting wirings

Today i was at the local honda dealership getting my fog lights installed and the technician flat out refused to install the bulbs saying since they burn so 'hot' at 4000k that they would eventually melt everything behind the lights. I have done my research on piaa bulbs for months now and i just need anyone who is running 4000k piaas to tell me how they are performing on their car.

I could have sworn the kelvin temp refers to the colour on the spectrum and not the actual temperature they burn at since it draws the stock current of 55w?

it burns cooler the higher the Kelvin, so the lowe the hotter! hinting the color rating i would think!

Kelvin is just the color spectrum, it has nothing to do with how hotter or cooler anything burns. If I have a 6000K (bluish-white) bulb running on a 100 watt bulb VS. a 4000K (bright yellow/white) running on a 55 Watt bulb, which one will run hotter? Obviously the 6000K bulb of course. In a vice versa scenario where the 6000K bulb is 55 watts and the 4000K is 100 watts, the 6000K would then run hotter and melt wires. Basically it's the wattage that you need to watch out for. I suggested to stay away from aftermarket lights because they are very high wattage. If you want a whitter light output, make sure the 4000K PIAA does not exceed 55 Watts. Just go with HIDs!!! They are only 35 Watts per bulb and are immensely blinding!
