short story even shorter: i got a free rota grid, i had some extra plexiglass laying around, i've been known to cut shit up for no reason, and i had a lot of extra time this weekend.

step 1. acquire rim. eat lots of chik-fil-a waffle fries.
http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/at...1&d=1160346562

step 2. get a jig-saw. read the caution label. notice it says to always use protection (for your eyes).
http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/at...1&d=1160346562

step 3. get protection.
http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/at...1&d=1160346562

step 4. draw a circle the size of the inside of the wheel on the plexiglass
http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/at...1&d=1160346562

step 5. look at the mess you've made in your parent's garage.
http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/at...1&d=1160346562

step 6. look at the circle of plexiglass before you.
http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/at...1&d=1160346562

step 7. peel off protective covering from plexiglass and lay on top of wheel. put something on top of the plexiglass to make your wheel table look useful.

Johnold 10-08-2006 06:31 PM

so whats up with these ROTA wheels i hear alot about?. are these wheels popular or something?. why so much hype?

dirtySAMURAI 10-08-2006 06:49 PM

theyre relatively inexpensive and are generally really close replicas of much more expensive wheels. they even have similar weights to the original wheels.

Johnold 10-08-2006 07:01 PM

yeah but if ROTA is so popular and so mainstream. than who the hell are they copying from?. LOL. i thought ROTA was it's own.

ruffryde009 10-08-2006 07:13 PM

volk, work are some companies.

I think rota's are great wheels! :-D

good DIY !!! but you should really fab up some stands for it now

They copy Volk, Mugen, SSR, and Spoon. I want to say Advan too but i'm not sure. There are probably more but that's all I can think of now.

lxcivic2k1 10-08-2006 07:29 PM

lol....way too much time. If you have more time make a stand with a bolt pattern on top so you can bolt the wheel to it. Then you have a taller table :)

If you have a LOT of extra time and a brake roter you could at the too

Mike04Civic 10-08-2006 07:52 PM

hahaha nice!
I got a few things planed-out for "furniture" when i get my own place.

Bass drum coffee table. old bass drum, laying on back, with round or square glass top. tah dah!! instant coffee table. ....do kinda the same thing with a floortom-drum but as a nightstand thing. :giggle:

diskreet 10-09-2006 12:09 AM

I am 100% serious I almost had 16" HFP wheel/Toyo Proxes 4 tires coffee table, but I built an oak and tile coffee table that is extremly nice.
