Is There Enough Room Behind The Front Bumper For A CAI Filter????

well i was thinking today that if i buy one of those cheapo ebay intakes, cut them up and attach it to my existing CAI so that the filter goes by one of the fog light holes or the center grille....will the filter be able to fit without it hitting the bumper??? I know it wont make like a 20 hp gain or whatever but i was just thinking it would look pretty cool and give some colder air in since the CAI's now are just behind the bumper, any info would be great...thanks

is the filter behind the bumper now or is it in the bumper under the headlight?

I'm 99% sure you would have to trim the back part of the bumper to make anything like that work.

Hydrolock would be an issue though.

Yeah i did that, hydrolock is a major issue.Trust me! I KNOW from experince!!! and it wouldnt do much.

its like maybe a foot under the headlight, i have a bypass valve but also when it rains i think it would splash on it and stuff which im worried about but i can always switch it out during the winter, but the summer is coming so rain is gonna be my biggest worry, but i wanna do it...how much trimming will be needed??

Injen's CAI's place the filter behind the bumper. And many people (myself included) have been able to install it without cutting anything....well, I did have to cut the battery tray a bit....but that's all.

TransformedBG 04-27-2006 01:54 PM

if you wanted to do the cheep route, just get behind the bumper and build a funnel straight to your intake. IE Cardborde and duct tape lol.

I don't think there would be enough room behind the grille without cutting a significant amount of material out from the bumper and even maybe some metal.

yea i hope its not too much cutting, i gotta take off the bumper and see

something like this but that would be a filter instead of the velocity stack

now this is the grille i have, there are little slits and holes in it so i dont think that much water would get on the filter

any filter you put down there you will have a problems with hydrolock dosent matter what grill you have. your car is lowered you go into a deep puddle bam! hydrolock

paradoxblue 04-27-2006 02:59 PM

hehe ltosa room under the passenger head lights. TONS but hydro is a problem but may be doable. just dont drive into a lake. the one i have now sits int he engine but like at the bottom haha so im not to worried.
