Is that the hybrid spoiler or an M3 lip type spoiler?

gearbox 04-23-2006 12:43 PM

M3 custom type (modded by me cause it was too big before). The hybrid spoiler does not look good imo, especially since it has a cutout for the H and I dont have one.

Kevbotron 04-23-2006 12:56 PM

Looks pretty good, I'm a fan of the Hybrid lip tho, are you installing it yourself? or are you just taking it into a shop for painting.(I'm a little gun shy of drilling holes in my trunk.)

Rennen 04-23-2006 01:00 PM

thats gonna look sick as hell. is that an ebay m3 spoiler?

im pretty sure that it sticks on with double-sided 3m tape. so no drilling!!!

diskreet 04-23-2006 01:01 PM

is that facing the wrong direction?

Yeah, it does adhere with tape, you are correct Rennen

And yeah, It is facing the wrong way, I think he just wanted to check how well it fit in between the taillights

goodtimes 04-23-2006 01:09 PM

dont like it sorry

yes, yes it is. thats the first thing i noticed lol.
so turn it around and retry it gear.

Kevbotron 04-23-2006 01:20 PM

My bad, I thought he meant by TAPE IT DOWN was to take a couple other pieces of scotch tape to the ends of the lip to make it flush w/ the deck.

Never heard of the taped down lip tho, should look into it, sounds like a nice & easy install:)

well thats how its going on. the "right" way does not fit the curved sedan trunk. This was for a coupe at one time. The way i put it on fits perfectly with the curve of the trunk. yes i'm using 3m double side tape once its painted by the shop.

TransformedBG 04-23-2006 01:35 PM

Man thats going to fly off if you only put it on with tape.

ncirom2003 04-23-2006 01:36 PM

ask the paint shop to form it to your trunk facing the correct way. they can use a heat gun to heat it up and make it a lil more flexible, then it will fit perfect.

kasimmmmm 04-23-2006 01:41 PM

Here's "Blkcivic"s trunk spoiler... isn't yours suppose to be longer?

gearbox 04-23-2006 01:52 PM

ya but it doesnt look good going over the taillight so i chopped off the ends. and i dont want the shop forming it. its gonna look all bent up if they do. and i think it looks better standing up anyway

CiViCPrAnInG2k1 04-23-2006 01:58 PM

gear... LOL at your new title.

but dude i'm not feeling the backwards lip. just put it on the right way and it wouldn't look weird/odd.

cheukkin 04-23-2006 02:27 PM

I think kasimmmmm's spoiler looks better....btw are you still selling your spoiler kasimmmmm..? :)

LowLife 04-23-2006 02:46 PM

yah, imo it looks TONS better going over the taillights, looks like turd cut off like that. but hey do what you do

have you ever used a heat gun and done this to know? because thats incorrect. ive used a heat gun like this many times, on my car only for the eyebrows. it doesnt look bent up or anything. you wont even know they did anything.
the way you have it looks retarded. the whole point is that wind will hit and and go over. although this is for looks, not functionality. it looks retarded backwards. :screwy:

gearbox 04-23-2006 03:05 PM

okay fine i'll put it the right way. its just bent in the middle which doesn't look too bad.

CiViCPrAnInG2k1 04-23-2006 03:07 PM

yeh please do that and post another pic! :rtfm:

this looks alot better IMO...

ncirom2003 04-23-2006 03:18 PM

there is a god.

CiViCPrAnInG2k1 04-23-2006 03:23 PM

yeh the lip spoiler looks better as it is meant to look like. when it's cut, it looks like it's shorthanded just like some guys pants that's 3 inches higher. it doesn't look good at all.

gearbox 04-23-2006 03:28 PM

haha! well i like mine to not cover the tails. it will overlap but only like 1/2 inch. i think it looks like it wasn't meant to fit with it hanging over the light. Now off i go to autozone to find some paint :)

D5cIvIc 04-23-2006 03:53 PM

that ugly gear
