Best Interior Dye?

Hey All

I have searched this on here but cant get a straight answer, most people want to paint the interior another color or something.

I am looking to get the best dye to do my AutoMeter Pillar to match the grey color of my interior as my pillar came black.

What would everyone eho has been through this recomend for the dye and any other tricks and products would be great to know.

Thanks In Advance.

I doubt you can "dye" plastic

Crashoveride 03-24-2006 07:20 AM

Yes you can dye the plastic, it more or less changes the pigment of the paint but that is what I am needing to do and want to know what the best product out there would be.

I know lots of people have done this before and just want some ideas of what would work best for what I want to do.

I would check with an automotive paint store where bodyshops by their paint. I remembered when I used to work for a bodyshop I would see techs using dye to touch up the interior when restoring older cars. It's best to take the old pillar in so they can get the color matched. Hope this helps. :)

I as well as other memebers from long ago all used SEM VINYL/PLASTIC Dye. Works well if properly applied.

just make sure u take ur time doin it cuz every over spray shows an it looks nasty

Yeah I am in no hurry to do this by any means.

I did however go and get some Interior dye/paint, its some DIY brand and it looked like it would match but when I got it home and held it up to my stock pilar its way too light.

I am still in search of something that will match as well as last.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what the best match would be?

Thanks Again Everyone
