anyone with aftermarket rotors please help ok as you may or may not know i just got new rims and it rained real bad last night and now my stock rotors looked rusty. i was just wondering if there were any rotors that continue to have the silver appearance after use. any help would be greatly appreciated |
drive around for 2 minutes, and use the brakes in those 2 minutes. then get out and look at the rotors. voila! no rust. |
no i know that the rust will go away but just answer my question. will any rotor do that or is it just becasue they are stock. like say the powerslot ones or whatever, just some aftermarket rotors that are silver colored, would they stay that color no matter what or would it rust when it rains also? |
i had powerslots, they rusted when it rained too. and they are only silver until you step on the brakes once, then they turn dark brown/blackish |
Wipe them down with oil. No!! Just kidding. Bare metal will tend to rust/oxidize when exposed to the environment. |
all of them will in rain. My Rotoras have a nice shiny look to em. It doesnt rain here much, but did the other day. After driving they were as shiny as new. They are cross drilled/slotted and 4 piston calipers. heres a pic. I love em! http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e4...T/P8230235.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e4...T/P8230233.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e4...T/P8230234.jpg They are cleaner looking than the rears, and I dont think its just from being new. They are much better than the stockers. |
^^love the car |
Is that the new Legacy? |
looks like it to me |
rotora brakes:clap: |
you need ZINC coated rotors!!!! they wont rust at all...try brembo slotted...i had them and they were the best |
wow, i forgot to add my info. i have brembo drilled slotted, stock size, and zinc coated. i havent had rust issues yet. just upgrade brake pads too cause stock ones will go quick. |
If you are talking about the braking surface rusting, then no rotor is going to have protection against that. It also is no big deal and disapears after the first stop. If you are talking about all of the other areas then try almost any aftermarket rotor. power slot, brembo sport ect. The coating keeps all the other areas nice looking and rust free. |
i have rotors that have a rust proof black coating on them. however, the surface has turned a light brown from some burns lol. clik the links in my sig for pics. |
yup i have brembo cross drilled/slotted rotors and only the face rusts if it gets wet but it really doesnt even rust |
I have the Wilwood setup and they rust when wet and not in motion for a while. All of the coating to prevent rust is just so it won't rust during shipping transactions. Once that brake pad hits the surface of the rotor that coating is gone. http://www.7thgencivic.com/memberrid...3/DSC00479.jpg texascivic2k1 |
