HID's ....... =)

I just got my system from HIDexpert.com, it actually looks pretty damn good (I'll post pics tonight) but yeah, it came with Renault ballasts and ignitors, the bulbs are d2s with the casper shield. This is better than a lot of kits I've seen. I think it was worth the price.

Subscribed to see pics later. Been in the market looking for a good pair to buy.

Honda_Inspired 03-07-2006 03:29 PM

Does it have high-beam capability? My kit doesn't and I would have to switch it out during state inspection :hithead:

install is very easy the hid's come with H4 adapters so putting the bulbs in is easy. only hard part is thinking of where to mount the ballats cause the harness will only stretch soo far

dre2600 03-07-2006 04:35 PM

Are you running projectors? If not, you should be, just to be considerate to other traffic (read: HID glare)..

texascivic2k1 03-07-2006 04:35 PM

Hey mrDFWmechanic I go to check out your set up next time we do a meet. I been really wanting them... and this HIDexpert.com makes it look really easy to do with the plug and play as it states. And its a pretty good price too.

Where did you get your setup mrDFWmechanic?

the hid kit comes with h4 adapters with built in casper shields. there is no glare with this hid kit has a clean cutoff i even asked a cop that came into my work if he'd pull me over for these and he said they look stock.

i got this kit from their website

Yeah only because only my driver side headlight was pointing up a little to high. but seriously though my car looks an 01-04 acura tl at night

dre2600 03-07-2006 08:09 PM

Its not so much the shields cutting off the beam as the actual light itself. Projectors are designed to focus the light in a certain way, whereas the reflectors a stock Civic has does not necessarily allow for that. If your car is bouncing up or down or anything like that, or on a not-level surface, you'll notice a lot of glare. People generally assume that a clean cutoff (typically against a garage door...) is evidence of a good ('clean') install and working HIDs, but it doesn't account for the light any farther ahead of you than that garage door or cars ahead of you in the distance.

This link explains it a bit better than I can: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=164646

mrDFWmechanic 03-07-2006 08:54 PM

i've done retrofits before in other civics i know what your talking about

supertikkigod 03-08-2006 07:40 AM

mind posting pics of how everything is mounted in the engine bay?

Supa_Fli 03-12-2006 06:22 PM

^^^ ditto

gearbox 03-12-2006 06:52 PM

ya the retrofit is why they look so good, not projectors. throw hid in halogen projectors and you have the same glare problem. oh well. cops will get you sooner or later and its actually a big fine for hid since they're completely illegal now (aftermarket kit).

ragingSPAM 03-12-2006 10:05 PM

hey wasnt it me who refered u to the site?...cuz i came upon the site randomly and thought i would share it here...i guess its working out now
