What's the difference between a DX and VP? Ok i'm probably going to get flamed for asking such a dumb question but honestly i do not know the difference. thanks for your input guys. |
A VP is a DX but with the air conditioning and CD Player options "free". It's only for Coupes, by the way. Sedans don't come in VP... but do have the other options "free". I think that's all the difference. If I'm missing something, please input it, people. |

where the actuators connect to the plunger (the thingy you lock the doors with) is completely wrong DO NOT DRILL throught the, take the little mount that came with the actuators and connect it to the brass looking connector that that plunger screws onto....i'm at work but lemme see it i can find some pics to better explain it.... |
7th gen dx were 2001-2003 civics 7th gen vp were 2004-2005 I'm not sure if they have 8th gen vp havent seen one yet. 7thgen vps came with power windows standard i think. |

VP is just a small upgrade from the DX bringing air conditioning/cd player. also VP has the option of side impact air bags in the front. and yes sedan was available with the VP package |

fellow DX/VP owners, what do you use for an aftermarket tach and where did you mount it? thanks  |
swap in an ex 01-02 cluster that has a tach. |
isn't there an issue with the mileage counter thing though? thanks |
ya so try and find one on ebay with known mileage and swap it in when your mileage gets to the mileage on the cluster. |
 thats the way to go. but if you just want an aftermarket tach, you have to tap into the camsensor wire i think. probably a DIY in the DIY section |
i wish i had a dx. none of the heavy moonroof/power everything/ac crap, and all you need to do is get the black pieces painted and put a new cluster in and a cd player system. and the lost power you can make up with a few boltons cause they give better gains on the dx. |
Overall I am happy with my purchase of a VP. I am a no frills kind of guy. The only option I really need is an A/C for those hot Texas summers. I drove an EX when I was looking & the power diffrence (at least to the butt dyno) is negligible. If you do decide to add a tach, autometer & a few others make them in 2 - 2 1/16 size. Then just mount it and another gauge in one of these vvv. Cleanest install other than factory IMO, and in the VP/DX you dont cover anything up. http://www.theneonedge.com/clustergauge.jpg http://www.theneonedge.com/clustergauge2.jpg |
that looks good |
i like the way pon55 has his, its on a triple guage pod. looks great like that |
VP means Value Package, yes it does come in sedan, no it does not have anything power except steering.....cd player & ac included, hence the reason for the value. |
oh, also the vp added center console. |
what gauges do daily drivers ever need? i was searching for gauges and i see all kinds....tachometer, oil pressure, water temperature, etc etc. that neon edge gauge pod looks cool but i wouldn't know what to put in the second slot :_doh: btw, what are the pros and cons of having a shift light on the tach? it's supposed to tell the optimum point to shift right? if that's the case, why does it seem people don't like that option? only novices use it or something? i personally think it looks cool  thanks guys  |
