cf trunk with oem spoiler?

I know it is possible, but how difficult is it to put the oem (lighted) rear spoiler on a cf trunk? Does the cf trunk make it any more difficult to run any necesisary wiring? Also, anyone have pics of it done? If you were wondering, I'm going for the cf hood and cf trunk on my metallic magnesium 2dr with the metallic magnesium spoiler. thanks people, and YES i did search with no luck

ajhdragon 12-11-2005 11:47 PM

somebody had an OEM wing on thier really red coupe with a CF trunk. I don't think it looked that good with the red wing on the trunk imo. But it isn't hard to put the spoiler and run the wireing with the CF trunk since that was your origional question.

booba5185 12-11-2005 11:47 PM

this isn't a for sure answer, but i would assume you would need to take the same approach on dirll through the cf as you would in the hood pins diy to avoid the fiberglass cracking....

yup thats true to.

i have a buddy that has a CF trunk with a CF wing, but his is a S2000 and the wing looks nice on it. I would say no to a OEM spoiler. But just be careful drilling, or your gonna be one sad person with it cracks.

booba5185 12-12-2005 12:00 AM

follow this basic idea to be careful and get a good hole\mount....one thing also, look into re-inforcing the fiberglass underneath (maybe with a metal plate of something) so the force doesn't break the fiberglass

thanks for the speedy responses... i am aware of the cf drilling and the precautions that NEED to be takin', not f'n up my cf trust me. so opinion wise, think the oem wing on cf trunk would look good (metallic magnesium)? i REALLY like the simple, non-obnoxious oem style wing, just wanna know if the colors (cf w/ metallic magnesium) would appeal to others.

RHCP0801 12-12-2005 12:04 AM

ehhh na i really dont think that would look good, of course an oem carbon fiber one would be pretty awesome, but metallic magnesium, i wouldnt do it

EclecticVISIONS 12-12-2005 12:07 AM

yea, my 3 choices are oem metallic magnesium wing, oen cf wing(new option that has not been researched yet), or no wing at all. guys, AGAIN, thanks for the responses.

05_ CivicJDM 12-12-2005 02:51 AM

I'd say go with a "no wing at all" with your CF Trunk... IMO

Civic_RedLine 12-12-2005 02:53 AM

i would not put a wing on cf trunk, if u must just be careful

7thGenerasianCivic 12-12-2005 03:28 AM

If you want a blk OEM spoiler w/ LED to go with your cf tunk lid I will sell you mine.

EclecticVISIONS 12-12-2005 05:10 PM

i think i'll pass on the black wing, but thanks for the offer, think i'll ask the photoshoppers to help me out with my options later tonight

MajinB 12-12-2005 05:21 PM

don't put a wing on it. if you want a wing that bad just choose. cf or a wing?

BtheCarp 12-12-2005 08:44 PM

I'm not a fan of it. IMO why bother spending the money on a CF trunk and stick with the OEM spoiler?

for me it's because I'd have a cf hood, black roof, cf trunk lid, and the color of my car to tie up the end, i think it'd look badass with a metallic color.

EclecticVISIONS 12-12-2005 10:21 PM

me personaly, no, but that's just not what i want on the car I drive. as for seeing that car on the road, i'd probably think it looks good assuming the rest of the car is done well
