Most miles on 1st tranny

Just curious, since so many people have had there trannies replaced so soon because of problems, I want to see who has gone the longest or most miles on there 1st tranny. Basically the tranny that came with the car. And it cant have had any service whatsoever. Only fluid changes. If you have had a solenoid or anything replaced concerning the tranny, you are out. Ill start

at 108K on my tranny and no problems. Only have changed the fluid every 15k miles.

62,000 miles on mine. I do grind from 2nd to 3rd and sometimes have trouble getting into reverse.

I thought it was just my car that had problems getting into reverse I'm glad it's not just me. I have about 65k on mine and it seems pretty good every once in awhile it will grind from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd.

SLO REX 12-08-2005 06:01 AM

Reverse has always been hard to get into for me, but mine has 50k and running perfect.

exturbo6 12-08-2005 06:45 AM

i just hit 73k no grinds and going strong.(was boosted at one point)

fiatdale 12-08-2005 07:56 AM

My 05 only has 2500 on it so nothing yet, my 99 had 86 on it when I sold it, that always had a grind going into reverse. I think thats common to these.

eye_see_you 12-08-2005 08:22 AM

my 5thgen accord had 220k miles on it and no issues at all but then again they don't make things like they use to anymore

tricky 12-08-2005 08:30 AM

180k
3rd gear just started to grind....F**K

MYK1013 12-08-2005 08:30 AM

i'm on 37 K miles, grinds from 2-3 and 3-4 occasionally but I think that's operator error. :giggle: Other than that, car's running real well.

5.0calypso93lx 12-08-2005 08:36 AM

My g/f's has 75k on it, no grinds whatsoever

civic_khaos 12-08-2005 08:44 AM

'01 civic manual - 144k
Just replaced the transmission oil @ 135k - no problems at all.

Daso 12-08-2005 08:45 AM

Most of the grinds are operator error... You're most likely shifting too fast for the tranny. big heavy flywheels and fast shifting don't really go together. You make the syncros work extra hard at matching the RPMs, which in turn wears them out alot faster.

Tragedy 12-08-2005 08:48 AM

I have 54k on my transmission right now, but when I first got mine, I noticed the reverse thing as well. I find that if you push the clutch and brake all the way down, it usually will go in smoothly. Not all the time though. If you have a warranty you should be able to get maint. done on it.

I have the same problem with mine at 79900 just turned that this morning on the way to work. Does anybody know the reason for that.

sleeper4life 12-08-2005 09:30 AM

i got 213k on mine, all stock (clutch has been replaced once or twice). they used to make things last forever... 86 accord LXi hatch... i still have it, in need of a new clutch soon. im either going to turn it into a track car, or sell it for the first $500.

18,583 god 01 trannys suck

scansel912 12-08-2005 11:57 AM

38,XXX before I had mine rebuilt. Fought the dealership to make them pay for it under warranty haha. Now 2-3 synchro is starting to go. Does anyone know how much that would cost to get repaired?

Ser1N 12-08-2005 12:04 PM

If your having a hard time getting into reverse try putting it into first then reverse. My 04 and 98 has the same problem. after trying the 1st to R it seems to be going in ok. its very strange.

zps2004 12-08-2005 12:08 PM

yea i got trouble goin into reverse too, mainly when it is cold, thats y i back into parking spots most of the time. I got my car with 47k miles on it and when i got to 53k the tranny had a small noise, they ended up replacing all 6 gears and one of the bearing, kinda makes me wonder how the guy before me drove it. oh and almost forgot, reverse is a srt8 cut gear not a helical cut gear, that may have something to do with it being harder to get into, just a thought

meseetree 12-08-2005 12:11 PM

only had 38,000 when mine went, left me on the side of the road. :D

Damn turbo.

02BLKCIVIC 12-08-2005 12:22 PM

64,000 MI; and two 4 puck clutchs later im grinding 1-2 and 2-3 every hard shift. But when I take it easy it's all gravy.

MIVtec 12-08-2005 12:39 PM

re-built(2nd gear grind recall) 01' Manual w/ 62,000, Redline MTL synthetic tranny fluid, it makes the shifting nice, but this winter i have began to notice it is a little harder to get her in to 2nd and 3rd occasionally. the tranny fluid is only like 9000 miles old should i change it again??

put it in 1st b4 you put it in reverse. It will line everything up and make it much easier.

Ashhole 12-08-2005 02:07 PM

102k miles, reverse can be a lil tough some times. Havnet changed the fluid in about 50k miles though

edit: Ive heard that our cars usual a special tranny fluid, true or not?

doctor 12-08-2005 02:31 PM

got around 63K and just changed the fluid and on first tranny with no major problems. Occasinally cant go in to reverse, but I stick it in to 4th real quick and that helps. Also, I think this is the first winter its happened, but when its cold or I when I just started driving I hava a hard time shifting 1-2 but its not grinding. Just feels harder to push from 1-2.

03-Acura-1.7-EL 12-08-2005 02:42 PM

To all owner with manual trannies:
Reverse gear on civic no syncronised, to engage reverse, you need to double clutch, otherwise it will ....kkkkkkkhhhhrrrrrr...
