DIY front end damage fix Got this car on wednesday from an auction and it had a little hit on the passenger front side. The fender where it connected with the bumper was pushed in about 1.5 inches, the bumper was sticking out about an inch and the headlight was pushed back and half an inch. The hood was also sitting slightly higher on this side do to being pushed up during impact. Here are a couple pics of the damage: http://img482.imageshack.us/img482/2793/p10705352ht.jpg http://img482.imageshack.us/img482/192/p10705384rj.jpg Instead of taking it to a body shop I figured I give it a try my self because its only sheetmetal and sheetmetal bends.... I took off the bumper, headlight and fender and started playing around with the mounting points where the impact took place. After about 4-5 hours of trial and error of bending things into place I got everythign to line back up fairly nicely. Its not a "looks brand new" type of job but its much better then before and not very noticle now. Here are the after pics: http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/8919/p10705411jn.jpg http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/5237/p10705405fc.jpg http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/7277/p10705390fp.jpg I also bent the hood back out so it'll line up better with the fender/light and removed the surface scratches with scratch remover... |
