Just Dyno'd. Stock 01 SI (US=EX) GRAPH ADDED

Ok so how does this work...they recalibrated the dyno a couple of times because of the innital numbers. All 3 pulls were about the same. I only have a ram air intake w/ stock headers and exhaust.

also many other cars were dyno'd at the same time and putting out appropriate power

eg. run before me was a 00 s2k and he put down 201 whp and like 138tq which seems reasonable that the dyno was working properly.

My Numbers (GRAPH POSTED BELOW)

123.04 whp
112.29 tq

gearbox 09-10-2005 03:13 PM

um is that sae corrected hp?? No way is that normal. A stock ex manual is around 105-110 whp, intake maybe adds 2-3whp. Somethings not right but I'll wait to see what happened with the graph.

Ryan2005 09-10-2005 03:29 PM

^^its an si not an ex, that sounds about right to me

prawdigy 09-10-2005 03:31 PM

^^ SI's werent around in 2001, and in Canada the Si is an EX in the United States.

MisterFrankieJ 09-10-2005 03:31 PM

^^read the title again "Just Dyno'd. Stock 01 SI (US=EX) wackey numbers"

Ryan2005 09-10-2005 03:33 PM

i see says the blind man

cwick187 09-10-2005 04:10 PM

Ummm...I'm only putting down 138whp with intake, Hp header, full exhaust, P&P with 4 angle valve job, VAFC 2 tuning and some other things...I think that Dyno is incorrect with those numbers...That's alot for just a intake

lovinthevtec 09-11-2005 04:05 PM

yea i just about shat my pants when i saw those numbers

and its supose to be corrected hp, with a correction ratio in effect

im still trying to figure out where i can scan my dyno sheet, if not i will take a picture of it and post it tonight

and yes, its only a 1.7vtec m/t, not the k20a3

Civic_RedLine 09-11-2005 04:11 PM

yeah that dyno is wrong, should be around 110 whp

03CivicEX03 09-11-2005 04:42 PM

i dynoed mine 120 with I/H/E and no way you will dyno just with intake and make 123. everyone here who dyno there with I/H/E they make around 117-125 whp.

prccivic 09-11-2005 04:53 PM

we shall just have to wait for the graph then i guess...i would want my money back for that dyno pull cause those numbers are wrong

micks7thgen 09-11-2005 05:02 PM

my first question is what kinda intake is it and where can i get it if you got that kinda power. did you check under the hood and see if there is a midget adding that 20 hp

lovinthevtec 09-11-2005 05:03 PM

sorry about the quality i just snapped a few quick pics with the phone cam

what gear were you in? they may have had your correction factor wrong.

lovinthevtec 09-11-2005 11:33 PM

was in 4th gear

i'll know if the dyno is wrong because a type r from my club is comming down for a dyno and he got dyno'd it at more then a dozen different places just this summer alone.

aznboysrfr 09-12-2005 12:01 AM

yeah ... more info please ...

temperature?
milage?
was a fan used?
hood open?
dynapak or dynojet?

:D

kornsined 09-12-2005 12:04 AM

i made 115whp with the i/h/e :(

gearbox 09-12-2005 12:14 AM

I made 100whp with pnp head, intake, header, vafcII. :( :(

turboengnr 09-12-2005 01:47 AM

they could have had it set to the flywheel power correction factor (which is rather inaccurate). They set that to mine when i dynod my car the first time after it was turbod. It said i was making 205 at the crank, and only 155 at the wheels. So it can be off by quite a bit.

Tomola 09-12-2005 03:15 AM

May I raise a question? Thanks… hehe

How often should our motors require a dyno retune. Like I mean every 10k or something? When I get my valve-lash reset tomorrow morning I’m thinking to get it dynoed again since last time it was done around 15k ago and I’ve since added a skunk2 adjustable cam-gear, 4-1 headers, flywheel & clutch. I want to retard the timing a degree or two to get little some more top end.

ok, the hunt for the truth continues

temperature= 18 degrees C
milage= 100,000 km
fan used= yes, with hood open (normal practise at this shop)
its a mustang dyno. they claim at the shop that its whp, and that the variance is between 1-3% between other local dyno's

the owner of the shop said that he has seen a few cars in his day pull alot harder then their supose to be rated at from stock. quote on quote " a freak of nature"

i however cant see it and am stil trying to argue his dyno being the problem to him

i will post the video soon, anyone know of a good host?

thanks

scansel912 09-12-2005 11:58 AM

Damn, if your in 4th gear thats amazing.

I'm dumbfounded...

you're missing the point. they could dyno 12 other cars perfectly fine. if they are setting up YOUR car incorrectly or with the wrong correction factor, then YOURS would be the only one reading wrong.

holy crap. right here i know they dyno'd you wrong.

a mustang dyno alone would show a stock EX dyno'ing in the 90whp area. that means that your "mods" would have had to give you what... 40whp? yeah. they don't know wtf they are doing.

also, you dyno'd in 4th gear. your 4th gear ratio is .970 however, they set your correction to 1.022.

IMO, they fuxed up with the correction factor.

turboengnr 09-12-2005 12:40 PM

mustang dynos are also notorious for giving low numbers. I mean 10-12% lower than a dynojet (which is the industry rated standard).

So since you are getting such high numbers on a dyno that should be giving you low numbers, they screwed with something. Most likely correction factors.

exturbo6 09-12-2005 12:44 PM

dam that sucks. i think i could beat you in my EX. o well no tryin to hate. better luck next time.

scansel912 09-12-2005 01:20 PM

^What?

lovinthevtec 09-12-2005 02:42 PM

i think im gonna have it redyno'd because this is garbage

alls i wanted was a before boost number and im getting bullshit from this place

oh and s2000man, you've got a good point about the correction factor being wrong for my car.

i'll keep you informed if i go for another couple of runs soon
