some questions hi guys, i am driving a 03' civic sedan which is 1.6l D16. how do i differentiate the sedan d16 and d17 from the outside in terms of appearance? are the throttly body of these 2 engines the same?? many thanks. |
if ur driving an 03 it doesn't have a d16, all 01-05 have d17, major difference is 1.6l to 1.7l, and aftermarket support |

uh, all civics have the same engine no matter what the country, the d17 replaced the d16, a dx, is a dx, a lx is a lx, an ex is an ex or si in canada, same d17s, with the exception of vtec...but i could be wrong, it's rare but it does happen |

k, then i'm a retard, i admit it  EDIT: In this case, not always :susp: |
LOL, yeah in some countries they have a d16 in them, BUT they still function the same and have the same setup. |
yes i am from asia and here we run d15, d16, d17 on our civics. we called them ES8, Es5 and Es1 here respectively. now the questions, d16 and d17 looked exactly the same? |
I don't know that anyone here has probably seen or researched and developed aftermarket parts for the motor you have. If it is the same as the previous year civics, then those are going to be the parts that fit, if it's the same layout as the 1.7, that's the platform. Is your intake manifold plastic? Is the throttle body mounted on top or on the side? |
the major differences ive noticed are that the intake is located on the top of the engine (excluse my lamens terms) on the 1.7's so that the intakes have to come straight up then curve to the left, whereas on the 1.6 like the older civics the intake is on the side of the engine so the intakes stick off like an arm... may be some more differences, but nothing really big i dont think. |
I'm 99.99999999999999% your engine is the same layout as yours, and thus the same parts apply. You should PM ashtam |
