D17 has alot of potential

I took out my civic for a spin tonight (equipped with all the internal work done and high compression) and I must say that I owned a DC5 ITR however it was not by much. Let me be the first to say that the ****ing car pulls very hard from about 2900 RPM  until rev limiter.... OMG I didn't believe that the D17 could have all this potential...... I am gonna get video clips of my next races.....

Supah_Judo 08-29-2005 10:26 PM

Sounds good, post vids soon.

MiamiUgen7 08-29-2005 10:28 PM

kezay 08-29-2005 10:28 PM

nope full blown NA

ncirom2003 08-29-2005 10:34 PM

YOUR MY HERO!

na is great. but lets see some dyno sheets and some figures on how much u spent to get these dyno numbers

JCiv03 08-29-2005 10:39 PM

Awsome stuff! I can't wait to see some numbers! 1/4 mile and Dynos!!

Da1lyDr1ver 08-29-2005 11:08 PM

i dont know, i'm optimistic. a d17 beating a k20a??? that doesnt sound right...

tuner04civic 08-29-2005 11:15 PM

u can have a d17a2 be very nice with speed, but will never be the fastest, woiuld like to see dyno and 1/4 vid if possible, sounds great

allmotor 08-29-2005 11:19 PM

thumbs up for buildin the d. ^^^ And done right the d has potential believe or not. Look at bisi run 10's in a single. And this past friday someone with a "stock" d-series mtr ran and beat a few b16 swap hatches and crx's. Nvr knew how good 2-step and e-cutout sounded on a built sohc

genexrocket 08-29-2005 11:49 PM

what the? really??

kornsined 08-29-2005 11:50 PM

how much did this cost you though? wouldn't a swap be cheaper?

dre2600 08-29-2005 11:53 PM

A current model year ITR or the prev. B18 ITR?

Hey kezay,
wasn't that the motor you had fully built from crower? Since you sent them your motor, they full built it for free, and sent it back to you right?

Sounds awesome! Post the numbers when you can!

kezay 08-30-2005 05:09 AM

I will definately get some 1\4 mile times very soon. My mods list is:
I\H\E (The usual)
P&P D17A2 head (also milled)
AEM Power pullies Alternator only because I don't have a PS pump)
Crower stage 3 cams
Crower valve springs & Titanium Retainers
Crower Stainles steel valves
ARP head studs (tightned to 65 ft lbs)
AEM cam gear
CP forged 11.5 pistons
ACT Extreme 6 puck clutch with extreme pressure plate
ACT prolite flywheel
Tein SS suspension
Energy suspension full bushing kit
Koyo racing Radiator
B&M short shifter
DCS ITR (K20A) injectors

The only thing I need is the AEM EMS so that I could raise the rev limit on the motor.

ojay 08-30-2005 06:12 AM

sounds hot, but prove yourself

sweeteli99 08-30-2005 07:59 AM

R1Style 08-30-2005 08:19 AM

question... why put so much money into a D17 if you already had a DC5 ITR?

regggnn 08-30-2005 09:32 AM

how many hps can you gain from that kind of mods ? interesting....i never thought D17 will have that kind of potential, thats why i dont modify my engine bay much

Blahman240 08-30-2005 09:36 AM

the way i see it is, IF you can actually make that much power outta the d17, you'll basically be at the max (for making power). so what i'm trying to say is that the d17 will be at its max power point while a k20 picks up where it left off (and still be able to make a whole lot more power).
