black housing headlights ok, well im in the stages of clearing my headlights right, adn i decided to not just clear them, but paint the housing black lik a few people, so i hav the chrome headlight housing, the amber piece, the lense and the main headlight thing, well i kno you paint the chrome housing, but i dont know if you are suposed to..... -sand, primer, paint -spray primer and then paint -or jus spray the black paint on top of the chrome which one, please help me out, im trying to get this done soon |
any way you do it will work. if you use the last option you should look into using PLASTIC spray paint. anything else will flake off. |
i dont see the reason to not sand and prime it. i would rather do a little extra work and be sure that it wont flake off and i dont have to do it again. |
sanding and primer wont do n e thing diff from if u used plastic paint, like ive said in others threads, ive done like 7 or 8 lights and never had any problems. the hardest part is taping off the amber part and taking off the tape and being carefulldoing it.... but its not hard at all..... good luck man. |
sand what you want black and tape off what you want to stay clear (turnsignals). if you don't want to sand the entire thing, at least sand the sharp edges of the housing. for some reason the paint likes to run off of them. and the chrome does peel off easily, some of mine came off with just painters tape. |
its all pretty easy to do ... i was scared at first but once i started i was like wow this is pretty dam easy... |
i just sprayed over the chrome housing with duplicolor glossy black paint and been a year fine. 3 coats a piece. this was on the rsx housings btw, which is very similar. |
