Thanks for clearing that up, there alot more to a show car than lambo doors and 19" rims. It seems that only people from Cali and Florida understand how important it is for a show car to have performance mods equivalent or even better than cosmetic mods.

XTREME2K2CIVIC 07-12-2005 01:10 PM

Uhh ok.. I dont think anyone is gonna start awarding points per car.. I figure its just a personal preference as to which car you like... Doesnt really mean it has to have the most stuff or what not just which one each person likes the most.. JMO..

supermex 07-12-2005 01:20 PM

For best of show?
You bet!
is an overall looks and performance.

For most likeable or popular
It's for what each person likes the most!
Kindda of like a prom's king and queen

and that list perfectly gives you the reason why most show cars(not doggin anyone here) are ricey lookin.

chicohonda02 07-12-2005 01:42 PM

went to formula D the other day and the judgin sucked ass. No one ever came by, except for some dude who ran around looked at the car for like 2 seconds and moved on. ****er And then you know who wins.... the ****ing cars in the booths. Who were not even in the area of the car show.

mndthegap1 07-12-2005 02:00 PM

generally i dont think the cars in booths are eligable for judging due to the fact that they are promo cars usually.
as for judging it all depends on the judges... ive been to HIN and seen a car get awarded 2nd just cause they knew the judge... total BS.. but it happens.
again what supermex posted is what is supose to be based off of and is excellent outline to follow if your building a show car...

ive seen cars with just i/h/e win best in class.
all depends..
deff. worth following if your are building a show car, i will deff. print it out and use it.

also a litttle bit of info... if you are at a NCCA judged show and you are a member write your number BIG on the top it helps when you are getting judged.

and dont stand away from the judge point stuff out he may have missed.

chicohonda02 07-12-2005 02:03 PM

Y aI was told when the judge comes a knocking, you got sell your car to him., Hype it up. Make them believe its the best one there.

I feel the same way about booth cars. I got beat in San Mateo's HIN for best paint to the Evil Z who is sponosored by one of the main corporate sponsors of HIN. I don't think it's fair to allow sponsored cars to compete becuase it's a conflict of interest. The show wants to be fair, but at the same time, they want to show love to the people funding the show.

As for people winning best of class with i/h/e, you got to see it as the catagories break down. I know I do't have much engine work done yet, but I can def. go pound for pound against some of the top tuner cars as far as body mods are concerned. Someone can score perfect marks on so many catagories, i.e. suspnsion, finish, interior, ICE but when it comes down to engine, they get a few points. Nonetheless, he already has more then enough points from the other catagories to put him over the top. Then again, different shows base on different style judging.

HIN has deffinately a conflict when judging a car.
Booth cars sholudn't be aloud but booths brings the most amount of income to the show.
I belive that a diferent cathegory should be created for booth cars.

A good judge should distinguish from rice to nice.
I seen cars with all the mods including fishtanks where the headlights should be.
Or tv monitors inside the engine bay or outside the car.
Rendering the vehicle useless.
Deffinately beauty should be follow by function.

The guide lines are there but the objectivity of the judges get's comprimise by politics or just plain ignorance.

mndthegap1 07-12-2005 03:27 PM

supermex well put....
yeah its deff. hard at shows like HIN.. i deff think that function should be incorporated into the judging aswell...
to be honest, i didnt even realize there was a safty catagory at the bigger shows like HIN or an NCCA judged show...
its funny i went to one show in NY and they went so far as to check the tread on the tires.. now that is just rediculous...
all depends on the judge i guess, and politics deff. plays a hand in it.

i mean ive won a few shows, nothing major like HIN, but maybe someday i can win a trophy at HIN not greedy dont need 1st (would be nice) but ild take 1-3 in wild, or civic class....

InOvAtStyL 07-12-2005 03:39 PM

I hope to take a Wild trophy this month at Hot Import Daze. Or Best Bodywork, or Best Paint, or Best Finish, or Thank you for competing. ANYTHING!... ha ha ha. I've never been able to place at HIN or HID cause the competition in the west is too insane...

gearbox 07-12-2005 06:19 PM

don't forget take all food/detail supplies/papers out of your car before judging! I got docked for that. And forgot some of my mods...presentation is key here.
