car got f*ed up today !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok so me and my friend were out test driving my car today after working on it, and at the top of 4th gear my hood flew open and shattered my windshield and dented the hell out of the top of my roof!! didnt crack the sunroof but all the body around it is damaged. im gonna need a new hood, windshield, and the roof fixed. i called my body shop guy and he said im basically f ucked cause the roof is bent where the top of the windshield is suppsed to sit. pics will be coming tomrorw when i go to the shop to check on the estimate.

i hope my insurance covers it cause its not the stock hood, and i had hood pins holding it down, and no latch. (hood pins slid back, thats why it lifted up)

my car looks so wrecked, i almost cried.

civic01vtec 06-27-2005 09:43 PM

damn, that is horrible

booba5185 06-27-2005 09:58 PM

I'm sure they can fix it, should be so bad. but still i love you car, bad things always happen to good cars :(

MajinB 06-27-2005 10:02 PM

your insurance should surely cover it. now you can get a new hood. maybe good excuse to get carbon fiber. that does suck though. do you know why it flew up like that? did you forget to make sure it was down tight? just wonderin

booba5185 06-27-2005 10:17 PM

Cjddrum1 06-27-2005 10:18 PM

o man im soooo sorry to hear about that....i hope everything goes okay and u dont need a new car. I know how it feels...as im sure most of us do

es2k2 06-27-2005 10:25 PM

that's bad.. i hope you can recover your car!

MajinB 06-27-2005 10:35 PM

the hood itself should be ok then. the new windshield will run at least 500 bucks. will insurance cover it? hope so. sorry to hear. hope your baby feels better soon.

$500 for a new windshield? I got a new one installed for $120....

Anyway, robo good luck on getting everything fixed!

ramcosca 06-27-2005 11:06 PM

Ditto.

MYK1013 06-28-2005 12:03 AM

good luck with that black beauty.

clownprince 06-28-2005 12:10 AM

damn that sucks

most expensive thing is gonna be the roof

best idea is to beat up your stock hood a little bit, reinstall the latch, remove the pins and then file a claim

stl01civic 06-28-2005 12:13 AM

dam. how fast where u going? I had my CF on for about 2 years, with no pins and still no problem's (knock on the wood).
well i would said ur biggest problem is the roof. beside that everything is pretty cheap.

ragingSPAM 06-28-2005 12:28 AM

well to tell u i've done some body work and frame repair u can see some of my work in my eclipse post in members rides...anyways to fix the roof area u have to get a new windshield first than fit it to the car and see where the roof needs to be fixed...and thats how u base fixing frame around the front pillars and roof...that sux tho...good luck to ya

Al Gore FTW 06-28-2005 12:39 AM

damn man, sorry to hear. get some pics for us if you can

typeRDreamer 06-28-2005 12:51 AM

OUCH!..................i guess you just gotta get a latched hood this time!

Civic_RedLine 06-28-2005 02:07 AM

hood pins are supposed to be used with factory latch

01blackCVC 06-28-2005 02:10 AM

sorry to hear that man! good luck with the repairs, such a nice ride!!

robo1040 06-28-2005 03:04 AM

thanks for the commments everyone

im gettin the invader CF hood: 400 bucks
windshields for our cars a re about 160 installed.

to late to install factory hood or the latch, the car is already at the shop.

wait till you guys see these pics, it looks soooo freekin bad

insurance should cover everything regardless, i pay 4000 dollars a year, if they dont, im gonna flip a script.

illl have pics in the morning.

AggressiveAdam 06-28-2005 03:33 AM

ok so everything is cool, and the best part is, the hood i had on there was a 200$ ebay hood with imperfections. insurance is buying me a VIS racing hood that cost about 900$!

HondaGuy12 06-29-2005 07:49 PM

damn that sucks..even worse thru the pics.. i plan on getting a new cf hood too.. im going to make sure it latches.. lol.. how long ur car going to be down?

ale007civicdx 06-29-2005 08:23 PM

damn i feel sorry for u but dont worry cause the same shit happened to me, i also cried for weeks

slicksivik 06-30-2005 01:06 AM

ur insurance will go from 4000 to 4500. see the difference in ur deductible and how much it will cost to fix. more claims = higher insurance = costlier in the long run. gl tho

most likely this will fall under comprehensive coverage. If so, then your premium will not be affected by this because it is illegal to charge additional premium for comprehensive damage claims.

YUL 06-30-2005 05:11 PM

trust me man...whatever claim you make on your insurance, you will end up paying more at your next renewal.
