Tinting tails tommorow....

Hey I am going to tint my tails tommorow. I am using my CF tails that I had laying around. The seal is broke on one but I am just going to get some clear silicone to seal it up. Any last minute pieces of advice before I start spraying? I will take some pics tommorow to!

Find something to place the tails in while they dry cause dust and random flying crap will stick to the spray.

Echelon04 06-09-2005 09:57 PM

Yeah good call.... i thought about that but I am not sure what to use...

ajhdragon 06-09-2005 10:06 PM

use a big box or something

PennyKnotOff 06-09-2005 10:08 PM

i did the same. if you tape anything off, dont mess up, i did alittle, and i cut where i wasnt suppose to, and when i sprayed it, you can tell the mark it left.

SOHC 06-10-2005 11:27 AM

ive got two cans of summit "vht nightshades" sitting in my attic. ive tried to do test runs on a cd jewel case but it always came out very matte like. i guess i should have sanded!? how do u wetsand what marterials do you need?

Echelon04 06-10-2005 11:33 AM

Probably 1000 grit sandpaper should do. You should get some clear cote and that should help it come out shinier.

Echelon04 06-10-2005 11:34 AM

I am waiting on the first coat to dry...I am doing this on some old after market tails I had laying around. No way I would do it with my factory lights.

Echelon04 06-10-2005 11:44 AM

I am gonna try sanding them after this coat.

Just for good measure :)

A good spot to let them dry is the oven. Dust free, just make sure no one turns it on.
