calling out all 7gc's on 18s calling out all 7thgen civics thats rollin on 18's. post up! im debating whether i should go with 17s or 18's :_beer: im leaning towards the show catergory but i dont have a body kit, just lips. will be dropping so its half or 1 finger gap all around |
I say go with 18's, i like the bigger wheels, others will say go with 17's, its a matter of opinion, go to a plave and have them mount them on, i run a 215/35/18 tire, i'm getting ready to buy neuspeed sport springs to lower it, i don't have a body kit either. a good place to go is www.wheelsdirectonline.com i bought my Konig Prophets 18" Opal finish and tires for 1130.00, thats mounted balanced and included lugs and locks and hub rings. Nice place to buy and very fast shipping, like 4 days. |
17's look good on my car, i wouldnt mind 18's. 18's fit the wheel gap pretty good so go with 18's. sorry no pics |
If you have the money, go for 19's they are awesome. If you do go with 18's or 19's make sure you get a 35 series tire or you will rub. |
18" ADR Version II's 225/40-18 Fuzion ZRi (no rubbing...ever) H&R sport springs drop (about 1.5" all around) http://www.7thgencivic.com/memberrid...00131_copy.JPG |

I love my 18s, but they ride HARD. Ride comfort goes down the toilet. |
Does ride quality really go down that much from 17's to 18's. My ride really isn't that bad, my roads around here are not that bad though, highways are all fresh within 2 yrs, and a new high makeover is going on as we speak, city streets are perfect too. I can't wait to lower my car either. I also run a 35 series tire. |

I have since adjusted the ride height and gotten new tires... these look thin due the the lack of tread. http://www.7thgencivic.com/memberrid...2401civic5.jpg http://www.7thgencivic.com/memberrid...1civic2_sm.jpg |

I have 18 inch bronze rims, with 225/40 tires. Without a drop, 225/45 seems to be the largest tire you can fit, when I had that size they rubbed pretty bad. And a pothole on the sh1tty ass roads here in KY did them in, and *knock on wood* I never had a problem with my 225/40's even on these forsaken roads, besides having to play "pothole" and "what-the-hell is that big ass chunk of concrete doing in the road" dodge. Not recommended for interstate travel. Around town, heck yeah! |

18's It's clear that if you dont' fall into, I'm not sure how to describe the category, but you know those people who put nothing above a 15'' rim on their car, you should go with 18''x7.5. In my personal opinion, 17's go with the 6th gen and 18's go with the 7th gen. Also, since 7th gen came out wider, get the extra 1/2 inch 18x7.5 not 18x7. Then again it all ties into the drop on your car, so try to make the best of my advice. Sorry couldn't help more. |

Sorry couldn't help more. i agree... as you can see mine are 7.5" wide with a funky offset that gives me about 1mm of clearance but a nice happy lip. Anybody know what the offset is on an 18x7.5" Tenzo R RS-5 wheel? |
Heres my new 18s, heres some pics from my previous post... 215/35/18 tires, and i'm rubbing a bit on one side...I went from 16" to 18" and I can defintily tell a difference in weight, velox are like 20+lbs a wheel compared to the rotas i had...(in my sig) http://www.audiosleep.net/pix/velox1.jpg http://www.audiosleep.net/pix/velox2.jpg http://www.audiosleep.net/pix/velox3.jpg |

Yet another opinion to add to the mix! Personally my first set of rims were 17's! I loved them simply because they were my first but after seeing cars with those yummy looking 18's on them I knew I had to get some! So I bought a pair of 18's! The standard profile for 18's is usually 215/45's but those rubbed even with no drop because they were 7.5 inches wide instead of 7 inches but I have heard of some people not having this problem so I guess it just depends on the individual application! I loved my 18's because of the size of course but the weight was insane! Something like 60 lbs. per wheel and tire! These were not light weight wheels! I noticed an immediate decline in acceleration when I put those things on! After a while of rubbing and doing 0-60 in 9 seconds I decided that it wasn't worth it so I switched back to 17's! Lighter weight 18's do help but they will still weigh more! My current 17's are light weight( about the same weight as the factory steelies) and look much better( also lowered now) Plus with 18's they raise your car off the ground higher than 17's even though lowering will take care of most of that and plus the tires are that much more expensive! For me 17's are a good combination of size and weight which are the two most important factors in choosing wheels for your car but that is just my opinion! Hope this helps! |
