Universal Muffler?

Hey,

I have a 2001 2dr Si coupe, My car is pure stock right now except for a Pioneer HU. I want get a universal muffler, don't have enough money for a cat back system right now, and honestly I just want to have that nice sound. Im looking for something not too expensive with a nice deep tuned sound, I dont want it sound pure rice. Im in Canada so if you know canadian prices that would help. but I just wondering what brands you guys recommend.

Thanks!!!

go to ebay...carbon fiber ones are good...it will give you that low deep throaty sound rather than the "ricey" sound

get a greddy evo if you want a deep sound

apexi n1 unversial n/a muffler
how about the hks rear section? $300 for an axel back.

muffler = 100-$150
labor for welding = $30-50?

spend few more bucks, not only will you get a nicer sound, but a sexy exhaust that will hold its resell value AND look much better w/ its angle slant.

if u look around your towns auto shops, you can find one that does work cheap. I had 2.25" pipe from the CAT back done, and a universal muffler all for $176. and 110 of that was the muffler.

^ same as me, i got my muffler from a crappy parts store for like 70 bucks though, and cost about 70 to put it and a resonator and header back 2.25" pipe.

if its anything like there truck/mucle mufflers its one of those crappy restricting reflector type mufflers, i mean if you have a hella loud 500ci engine you have no choice but straight through is what you need on a 4 cyl.

nah i don't agree. imo this sounds way better than any fart can everybody puts on.

i went to a local car shop. I bought a universal muffler and the brand was pilot. I have gotten compliments on how good my exhaust sounds. It sounds nothing like rice. For $120 it is the best deal you can get.

yup thats teh way to do it. i dont even know what brand mine was. I just know it was a knock-off of a Magnaflow. Sounds really good.

This brings me to another question. What are the signs of a ricey muffler, before you buy it of course?

Ashhole 05-05-2005 08:07 AM

it comes from pep boys or advance auto.
