Are We That Slow? Generally speaking, it seems to me that civics are slow off the line. My car doesnt jump off the line like similar cars of different makes do. Even my friends quicker 00 Si seems a little doggish in the first and second gears, wats up with this? (PS. I know civics arent made to be fast, im talking in comparison to cars such as cavalier, eclipse, tc, etc.) |
torque sucks on import cars. something to do with saving gas? |
i know my car is slow but off line i beat my friend with a 99 jetta all the time 1gr -3gr and thats it |
No power down low, need to luanch higher RPM, but probably need an LSD to do it. American cars have far more torque and usually bigger tires to help launching. |
i have no problems :) |
um, first problem is that our motors are smaller than most of the cars you are comparing a vic to... just to give you an idea, the ecotec cavy motor has 150 hp stock, where as an ex w/ vtec is in the 120 is range (i dont remember exactly i "beleve" it is 127 but dont quote me on that) we have a 1.7 lt engine, most domestics have a 2.0 + 4 cylinder motor... |
Yes, you are. Now that im driving a WRX, I know how painfully slow civics are. I could beat my old civic starting in 2nd gear in the Rex now. The WRX feels worlds faster, but its still only a low 14 second car, there are tons of cars that would beat the hell out of it without breaking a sweat as well. |
