wonderz 04-30-2005 10:48 PM

supply and demand.

acidbaby 04-30-2005 10:50 PM

3200$? i thought they were around 2000$ for the SF kit? or maybe its just been a while... either way it is the best HP mod you can do so of course it is going to cost alot!

Ashhole 04-30-2005 10:53 PM

i know the TSI kit was quoted at $3000. That is pretty crazy though, when that kit only does liek 5lbs of boost. maybe if it came with a turbo that was worth something, then it wouldnt be so bad paying it. but now, you gotta buy the kit and then get a decent turbo. and by decent i mean with at least 12lbs of boost.

acidbaby 04-30-2005 11:26 PM

stock internals on the d17 can only take 7-8lbs of boost i thought?

the problem i think is that these kits out right now for our car cost as much as a Carb Legal Greddy Turbo kit (if they made one for our car). not like i am saying the kits out there are not proven, but as least get it carb legal and still have decent gains.

HellSpawn 05-01-2005 12:00 AM

I think its just greed. If your one of the only shops in town you can set your own prices! If someone got smart they would make a decent base kit and charge 1500-1800 for it.

The volume of buisness from such a price would be huge!

If your looking for a killer turbo then 3000+ is ok I guess (depends) but guys like me who are just looking for a few more ponies dont need the extra stuff that most high end kits include.

benya7thmix 05-01-2005 12:51 AM

if turbo kits were 200 dollars, then even your mom would have one....
and who wants your mom's car?

DaRk_MauL 05-01-2005 04:48 AM

damn i would want to life in the state!!if you say 3000$ here its like if its for
nothing!here in belgium you will have to pay alot more! because it's get shipped
wen i arrives here you have to pay like 21% taxes and 7% import!

civic01vtec 05-01-2005 09:11 AM

my kit was $3,200........but, i got about $5,000 into it

dirtySAMURAI 05-01-2005 11:26 AM

it's not that the kits are expensive, it's just that you're really poor.

Mike04Civic 05-01-2005 11:59 AM

I could be wrong, but I believe TrueHonda.com sells a turbo kit for 7thgens for about $600....but I'm not 100% sure.

im pretty shure that would only work with d15/d16, our manifold is different right? if that kit worked people would be all over it, with aems ems out now thats all you need + some odds and ends, oil and fuel system...

13???????????????????????????????????????????????? ??????????????? :giggle:

MagicRacing18 05-01-2005 01:49 PM

^^
Yeah I'm almost 100% positive that the manifold is for the d16's. Even so, if you wanted to you could have a machine shop fab you up a manifold for a couple hundred bucks and some IC piping for a couple hundred bucks and you'd have a turbo for 2000. Then you'd need to grab a ems for fuel.

jhonsok 05-01-2005 02:16 PM

hmm..is forced induction too much stress on an auto tranny ? what would be safe for running boost on an automatic?

Blahman240 05-01-2005 02:20 PM

Build your own damn kit! It'll cost soo much less!

Ashhole 05-01-2005 04:00 PM

i thought it was much more expensive to build the kits from scratch?

civic01vtec for your 2F2F question. I thought that was a purge for the NOS set up that he has in it. I believe it has nothing to do with the blowoff valve. I've seen a setup like that before but the guy told me that was from his nos not blowoff valve.
