90% a drivers race, but I do believe the tibby has the advantage

the tiburon is heavier and has 134hp stock. it depends on transmissions of both cars, but its all a drivers race in reality

tibs are weak.... you get what you pay for. i hope you own the sh1t out of that tib

well really the civic only has 105 or so stock dyno hp.. with fwd
the tib prolly around 110 dyno hp.... rwd

i believe that the RWD will win........
really it depends on the trans of course honda has the better trans so its a toss up :shrug:

There both fwd cars. There diffence in weight is only 300lbs with the tiburon with 7 extra hp. I saw given equal drivers the tiburon would win. I agree with others, it would be a drivers race.

you better have stick shift. I would put my money on the civic, if you know how to drive

5sp vs 5sp you'll take the Tiburon. The Tiburon GT has a lot more horsepower than the base model and looking at 1/4mi. times the thing barely breaks into the 15s (low 16s, high high 15s car). They're pigs, too heavy, you should be able to take the base model.

They do respond well to mods though, so if the guy has I/H/E you might find yourself in a bit of a bind.

Your friend has the base model Tibby and he beats you?

Ok... Every 100 pounds is a tenth of a second in the 1/4 mile. Well, 7 extra hp isn't going to give it 3 tenths of a second advantage when the car weighs in over the civic by 300 pounds. I Have a feeling, if both are driven the same way, it would be a battle of gear ratio's and drivers.

The gearing for both cars are similar, but the tiburon has slightly more aggressive gearing. The civic has 114lbs of torque, the tiburon has 136lbs of torque.

I still say the tiburon has the edge, given equal drivers. The tiburon has better gearing and torque. The 300lbs isn't that big of a difference.

Torque wins over hp. So The Tib def will have an edge. But Mainly. Its a driver race.

He's got the EX, its accelerates slighly faster on paper. Under 9 secs to 60. Did you get smoked by the Tiburon or was is close.

civic = 2400 lbs

tib gt = 3000 lbs

Depending on how much hp you get with the nitrious, i think the civic would win. I know Type S can walk a Tiburon gt at the top of second or begining of third. There some vids with a tiburon gt and type S racing. The gt has a half a car to 3/4 car lead till the type S shifts to third. Then again the Tiburon was getting some awesome launches when i saw the vid. Its on clubrsx if you do a search.
